Last September we had a brilliant day out in Salturn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire. Before playing the Saltburn Minigolf course we took a ride on the Saltburn Cliff Tramway down to the promenade.

The Saltburn Cliff Tramway is an iconic part of Saltburn-by-the-Sea and you get a wonderful view of the pier and the seaside from it.

Exhibition minigolf

Looking for a way to engage with delegates at events, then use minigolf.

We've played a number of portable and pop-up minigolf courses on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, many of which were at business events and exhibitions.

Putting courses and obstacles are a popular addition to stands at trade shows and exhibitions. Way back in May 2007 I played an UrbanCrazy minigolf hole at the International Direct Marketing Fair at Earl's Court.

As a marketer I'm all for innovation. Over the years I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly of events.

Crazy Golf is experiencing a boom and gaining popularity as a business tool. UrbanCrazy's range of minigolf games and course layouts have been going strong for well over a decade. Putterfingers also offer Crazy Golf layouts for a number of different business and leisure events. While the team at HM Adventure Golf have a modular minigolf course layout that is being used for events and temporary courses.

Putting a Putter in the hands of a delegate at an event is a great way to keep them on your stand, break the ice, have a chat and generate some friendly competition.

Minigolf courses have also been hired by a number of venues to increase footfall. Among these are shops, shopping centres, retail parks, schools, colleges, universities, office developments and even a brewery!

Bridlington's Foreshore Sands has a semi-portable Crazy Golf course from UrbanCrazy. It looks great, plays well and attracts people to that part of the seafront

Penguin Park at a Mini-Golf course on an old Newquay postcard

Finding another great scene on an old minigolf postcard.

I'm always on the look out for old minigolf postcards and I found a cracker at an antiques fair in Stockport today for just 25p.

No sign of the Mini-Golf course on this card, except on the caption

The Harvey Barton Viewcard shows the Penguin Park at the Mini-Golf Course, Newquay, Cornwall and was sent from Newquay on the 27 July 1970.

We played the course - now called Gilmore's Golf - during our two-week holiday around the coast of South West England back in 2015.

Gilmore's Golf in Newquay was the 639th course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour

There was no sign of the Penguin Park when we were there, however the course itself is largely unchanged from its original construction in the 1960's.

If you look at the right of the card you can see a man in a striped jumper paying for his round. This same man appears in the postcard below. The hole the ladies are playing and the one to the left of it can be seen in the photo we took when we visited the course in 2015

Gilmore's Crazy Golf course as it looked in the summer of 2015. Not much has changed since it was built in the 1960's. The course is something of a rarity on these shores as it's of the Beton / Concrete variety more commonly found in continental Europe

If you look closely you can see the ladies in the purple jackets from the other postcard in the middle of this card

MiniLinks miniature golf courses in Lytham St Annes

Revisiting the three MiniLinks miniature golf courses in Lytham St Annes.

The Crazy Golf course at the MiniLinks in Lytham St Annes

Last August we had a superb weekend away in Lytham St Annes and revisited the miniature golf courses in the area. Three of which were at the MiniLinks on the seafront.

Back in 2008 the Crazy Golf course at the MiniLinks became the 48th visited and played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

In June 2017 the Pennines Putting Mini Golf course at the MiniLinks became the 740th visited and 434th played.

In June 2017 the MiniLinks Par-3 Miniature Golf course became the 742nd visited and 437th played.
