A look back at our visit to play at Joe Joe Jim's Crazy Crazy Golf course at Fletcher's Arcade in Cofton Hackett, Birmingham.

We visited Joe Joe Jim's Crazy Crazy Golf course at Fletcher's Arcade in South Birmingham back in August 2018. The course was the 829th overall course visit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since 2006. It was the 791st course visited in the UK and the 491st we've played.

Joe Joe Jim's Crazy Crazy Golf course was a unique and quite frankly ludicrous minigolf course! The course and game-play had to be seen and experienced to be believed. It really was Crazy Crazy Golf! What's extra special about the layout is the inspiration the course owners and designers have drawn from the local area, history, their business and their own interests. Fletcher's Arcade has been on the same site since 1920, with the Crazy Crazy Golf course an addition in 2017.

Hole 1 involved a number of 'putting' styles, including a rope pulley

This was the first - and to date, only - time I've putted using a spirit level

Hole 8 - Blind Fold Hole - yes, you do have to play it blindfolded. Your opponent has to guide you on how to play it, as the score you make is added to THEIR total!

Hole 9 - Whole Lot of Laughs - you tee-off while sat on Jasper Carrott's funky moped!

As well as the Crazy Crazy Golf course Fletcher's Arcade had a number of great retro arcade games including Pac-Man, Track & Field, Space Invaders and Defender. It was well worth a visit.

Little Pro Family Golf Games.

The arcade was also home to one of only two Little Pro Family Golf Games made by Bromley. What a treat it was to see it and have a play on it!

There used to be an Alpine-themed crazy golf course inside Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

We played the Alpine Golf course at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in April 2008.

20 for 20 - The Filwood Fantastic Crazy Golf course in Knowle West, Bristol

20 for 20: 20 years of our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

This month we're celebrating two decades of our crazy minigolfing adventures.

We had a superb time at the launch of the brand new Filwood Fantastic Crazy Golf course in Knowle West, Bristol in July 2021.

The real life miniature golf course was created during the pandemic and the ideas for the hole designs were generated by members of the Knowle West community during Lockdown 1.

Junkyard Golf in Liverpool is receiving a refresh and update.

Junkyard Golf at Liverpool ONE will become Junkyard Social Club Liverpool in October.

The renovations of the Junkyard Golf venue in Liverpool city centre has seen one of the crazy golf courses removed to make way for other activities including a UV karaoke room, interactive darts, pool, and arcade games.

20 for 20 - The UK's first Crazy Golf course

20 for 20: 20 years of our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

This month we're celebrating two decades of our crazy minigolfing adventures.

And in 2026 Crazy Golf is 100 years old!

The first miniature golf course using the name 'Crazy Golf' opened on South Parade in Skegness, Lincolnshire, England in 1926 and the game is widely known by that name in the UK. Crazy Golf is seldom, if ever, used overseas except in tourist spots popular with UK holidaymakers.

In May 2015 The Original Crazy Golf course became the 363rd played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. We'd first visited the course in 2011.

Our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour is 20 years old this month

We're celebrating two decades of our crazy minigolfing adventures.

How it started.

We played the Victory Trail course at Treasure Island Adventure Golf in Southsea, Hampshire, England on Saturday 30th September 2006.

And at the end of our 9-hole round I won a free game by firing the cannon on the lucky last hole!

Travelling the UK (and the world) playing minigolf.

We've now been to 1,131 courses overall in the last 20 years, with 1,062 of those locations in the British Isles.

When we originally set off to visit as many courses as possible the target list was 600 in the British Isles. And 20 years later, we have around 50 of those original courses to visit.

As well as playing minigolf in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey and the Isle of Man we’ve travelled to minigolf courses in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Finland, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, Spain (including Lanzarote & Tenerife in the Canary Islands, and Majorca in the Balearic Islands), Sweden and the USA.

From 600 courses in the UK to more than 1,500.

When our crazy golfing travels began in 2006 there were around 600 miniature golf courses in the UK and wider British Isles.

There are now more than 1,500 - and there are lots of new places to play the game opening all the time.

Our travels have been recognised by the Guinness World Records, and I'm a record holder for "Most miniature golf courses visited" (902 at the time of going to press). Check out the Guinness World Records 2024 book to see a lot more minigolf records too!

New Crazy Golf in Southend-on-Sea, Essex

There are plans for a new crazy golf course in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

The indoor crazy golf course is planned to open in the former Happidrome Arcade on the seafront.

Crazy Golf at The Ball Room Mus­sel­burgh in Mus­sel­burgh, Scotland

There will be a crazy golf course at the new Ball Room venue in Mus­sel­burgh, East Lothian, Scotland.

The Ball Room Mus­sel­burgh will be home to crazy golf, pool, snooker darts and bowling.

The (Crazy) Golf Apocalypse

A minigolf course based on The End Times!

We played the Golf Apocalypse miniature golf course back in August 2012.

The layout had been created as part of the London Pleasure Gardens, an area set-up to tap into the passing trade between the DLR and the London 2012 Olympic Games at the ExCel centre.

Golf Apocalypse was the first really really really mad-cap pop-up course we played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The layout contained all manner of strange minigolf obstacles and we found ourselves playing through the fuselage of a crashed aeroplane, around a pinball machine, a snooker table and into a volcano.

The pop-up miniature golf course was the first we saw to use reclaimed materials in its construction. Something that has become commonplace these days and we've seen and played a number of funky, junky, scrap, ghetto, trash, garbage, graffiti, wreckage, and art-based courses since.

The 9-hole Golf Apocalypse course was the 304th course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
