Minigolf at Leopoldpark in Blankenberge, Belgium

A visit to Leopoldpark in Blankenberge, Belgium.

Emily visited three courses and a new country on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour when she went to Blankenberge, Belgium back in 2016

What a sight for minigolf fans

The seaside resort is home to a Minigolf course, a Crazy Golf and a Snookergolf layout. The three 18-hole courses at Leopoldpark became the 710th, 711th and 712th visited on the tour.

Since 2006 Emily and I have visited 1,045 miniature golf courses around the UK and overseas on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. As well as playing minigolf in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey and the Isle of Man we’ve travelled to minigolf courses in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, Spain (Lanzarote and Majorca), Sweden and the USA.

We've got some great old postcards from Blankenberge that show the miniature golf courses which used to be at Leopoldpark. It's great to know there are still courses on the same spot today.

The whole place looks marvelously bright and colourful.

Porth Island Krazy Golf in Newquay

A look at the Porth Island Krazy Golf course in Newquay, Cornwall.

We played the Porth Island Krazy Golf course in Newquay on our road-trip around the South West coast of England back in June 2015.

Porth Island Krazy Golf in Newquay

The course was similar to a Beton Concrete type of miniature golf course and interesting, if a little too difficult, to play.

The course was the 47th visited on our two-week holiday, the 377th played overall and the 646th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Visit the Newquay Football Golf website for more information on the Porth Island Krazy Golf course.

Mini Golf in Goodrington Sands

On this day in 2015 - we visited our 600th miniature golf course in the UK.

Mini Golf in Goodrington Sands

We played the Mini Golf course in Goodrington Sands on the 4th June 2015 during our mammoth road trip around the South West coast of England.

In two weeks we visited 62 minigolf courses.

The Beton-style Concrete 18-hole Goodrington Park Mini Golf course in Goodrington Sands, Paignton was the 600th course visited in the UK and the 621st overall.

When our travels began in September 2006 we had a target to visit all 600 courses in the UK. Between then and now hundreds more course have opened, while others have closed, been demolished, abandoned or refurbished.

We've now been to 948 courses, including 39 overseas.

Hopefully we'll get to return to Devon and the South West again in the future as we had a marvellous time in 2015.

The Jurassic Golf course at Santa-Fe Adventure Park in Swanage, Dorset was the 600th course visited overall on our tour on Sunday 31st May 2015.

Minigolf in Traben-Trarbach, Germany

Traben-Trarbach is home to Germany's first minigolf course.

The Beton Concrete Mini Golf layout was built in 1955. You can find it at MGC Traben-Trarbach.

We've played a few Beton Concrete Mini Golf courses on our travels, notably in Nations Cup tournaments in Finland and Sweden.

Spotting a Miniature Golf course in Traben-Trarbach

In 2018 my brother Christopher was on a cycling trip in Luxembourg and Germany and spotted a minigolf course in Traben-Trarbach. That one was an Eternit Miniature Golf layout.

Beton Minigolf

Paul Bongni standardised the game with the Beton type of minigolf courses in 1953. The first Beton course was opened in Locarno, Switzerland.

Dr Walter Spier introduced minigolf to Traben-Trarbach two years later. The first German Minigolf Championship was held on the course in 1956.

The Crazy Golf course in Church Stretton, Shropshire

A look at the Crazy Golf course in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

Last month we visited the 913th course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour when we swung by the Crazy Golf at the town park in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

Crazy Golf in Church Stretton, Shropshire

Unfortunately the gates were locked so we couldn't have a game. A shame as it looked like a nice and interesting layout.

The course appeared to be a mixture of 'Eternit' miniature golf and 'Beton' concrete styles. They are types of course more commonly found in continental Europe.
