New Adventure Golf planned for Goodrington Sands, Devon

A new Jurassic Adventure Golf course is planned to be created at Youngs Park in Goodrington Sands, Paignton, Devon.

The new outdoor adventure golf course will sit next to the existing Shipwreck Island Adventure Golf course at the park.

'Completing' our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour ten years ago today

We visited our 600th miniature golf course in the UK on this day in 2015.

We played the Mini Golf course in Goodrington Sands on the 4th June 2015 during our mammoth road trip around the South West coast of England.

In two weeks we visited 62 minigolf courses.

The Beton-style Concrete 18-hole Goodrington Park Mini Golf course in Goodrington Sands, Paignton was the 600th course visited in the UK and the 621st overall.

 

When our travels began in September 2006 we had a target to visit all of the 600 courses there were in the UK. Between then and now hundreds more course have opened, while others have closed, been demolished, abandoned or refurbished.

Of the original list of 600 we've still got to visit 39 of the public courses.

We've now been to 1,083 courses around on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour - 61 of those have been overseas.

Hopefully we'll get to return to Devon and the South West again in the future as we had a marvellous time in 2015.

The minigolf course at Youngs Park in Goodrington Sands, Paignton, Devon has been refurbished and is now Shipwreck Island Adventure Golf.

During the same road trip in the South West of England, the Jurassic Golf course at Santa-Fe Adventure Park in Swanage, Dorset became the 600th course visited overall on our tour when we swung by on Sunday 31st May 2015.

The Adventure Golf course in Dawlish is being removed

The Safari Adventure Golf course near the seafront in Dawlish, Devon is being removed as part of work by South West Water to improve water quality in the area!

Following the work and complete removal of the layout a new course will replace it.

Miniature Golf has been played on the site at York Gardens in Dawlish.

The Safari Adventure Golf course opened in 2018 and itself replaced a Swedish Felt Mini Golf course that had been in the location since the 1990s.

I've got a number of old postcards dating from the 1930's and 40's through to the 70's and 80's that show a grass Putting course on the spot. When we visited in 2015 we were pleased to see a couple of postcards showing the Swedish Felt course on sale in the town and I bought a stack of them from the Tourist Information Centre to post out to friends.

We haven't been back to Dawlish since, so haven't had a round on the Safari Adventure Golf course, and it is unlikely we will get a chance before its removed this summer. It'll be interesting to see what the next course looks like...

Shipwreck Island Adventure Golf in Goodrington Sands

The minigolf course at Youngs Park in Goodrington Sands, Paignton, Devon has been refurbished and is now Shipwreck Island Adventure Golf.

We played the old version of the course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour trip around the South West coast back in 2015. It was the 600th course we visited in the UK.

Crazy Golf at The Bear in Newton Abbot

The Bear in Newton Abbot, Devon will have a Crazy Golf course in 2025.

A new bar and restaurant has opened in Newton Abbot, Devon and it has plans to expand its offering to include Crazy Golf among several activities next year.

The Park Holidays Golden Sands holiday park in Dawlish Warren, Devon is getting a Crazy Golf course.

The Crazy Golf course at Golden Sands holiday park in Dawlish Warren is being created as part of updates at the site in an ongoing improvement project by Park Holidays.

The course is a 9-hole outdoor layout.

Ilfracombe Crazy Golf course to be revamped

There are plans to revamp the minigolf course in Ilfracombe, Devon.

We visited the course on Ilfracombe Promenade during our south west coast road-trip back in 2015.

It'll be nice to revisit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in the future.

We visited Paignton in 2015, but there wasn't a course there then.

Minigolf at the Devon Railway Centre and Model World in Bickleigh

Finding a mini miniature golf course in Bickleigh, Tiverton.

My brother and his family were recently down in Devon and swung by the Devon Railway Centre on one of the days of their trip. Sadly the venue wasn't open at that time, but they did return later in the week when it was as there's a crazy golf course there too.

Unfortunately the course was so busy while they were there they didn't get to have a game, but they did find this superb and very mini crazy golf in the model world part of the centre!

The Crazy Golf course at the Devon Railway Centre counts as a visit - even though it wasn't played - and the model course is at least half a visit too. This means the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour list of courses visited since September 2006 now stands at 998.5!

My brother Christopher and his family recently visited Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh, South Devon and while there spotted the free to play Crazy Golf course at the farm.

The course became the 997th visited overall on our combined Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

It's always nice to see and hear about new minigolf courses.

Woodland Adventure Golf at China Fleet Country Club in Saltash

A look at the new Woodland Adventure Golf course at China Fleet Country Club in Saltash, Plymouth.

My mate and minigolf rival Simon Brown hit up a new minigolf course over the weekend as he teed-off on the Woodland Adventure Golf course at China Fleet Country Club in Saltash, Plymouth.

The 18-hole adventure golf layout opened last year.
