This week the team at DK Fibreglass are celebrating 34 years in business. In that time they have produced lots of Crazy Golf courses, many of which we've played on our travels.

The first DK Fibreglass Crazy Golf course we played was in Verulamium Park back in 2007. That particular minigolf course was replaced by another of the DK Fibreglass range, one which spells out the word 'CRAZY GOLF' in the layout.

When we lived in Luton our local course at Wardown Park was a DK Fibreglass one and we played on it a lot before it was removed in 2015.

One of the trademark obstacles on DK Fibreglass courses is 'Humpty'. I've been photographed with him a lot on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour!

The first Humpty I saw was on the first DK Fibreglass course I played. This was in St Albans back in 2007

Since our Crazy Golf adventures began in September 2006 we've visited 859 courses. Of those 31 have been DK Fibreglass minigolf courses. However, only one of those has been of the special '5 Star Crazy Golf' variety - a course I managed to complete a perfect round on back in 2011.

There are still a number of minigolf courses for us to visit around the country and we know that some of those are DK Fibreglass layouts. One of which is the Crazy Golf course at the Herrings Green Farm Birds Of Prey Activity Centre in Bedford.

Revisiting the Crazy Golf course at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham Saint Annes.

Last August we had a weekend away in Lytham St Annes and revisited the miniature golf courses in the area. One of which was the Crazy Golf course at Fairhaven Lake.

In June 2017 the course became the 436th course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Crazy Golf at Ancaster Karting in Grantham

A look at the Crazy Golf course at Ancaster Karting in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

As if more proof were needed that we can find a Crazy Golf course in most places we visit, Emily has stumbled upon a Crazy Golf course while on a weekend away in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

The 9-hole Crazy Golf course is at the Ancaster Karting centre, next to the hotel Emily was staying at. She only spotted it while driving past on her way home!

The course became the 854th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Crazy Golf at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham Saint Annes

A revisit to the Crazy Golf course at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham Saint Annes.

Back in 2008 we made a flying visit to Lytham Saint Annes after a weekend in Blackpool. On that occasion we didn't have the time to play the Crazy Golf course at Fairhaven Lake. Something I put right on my recent proper visit to the seaside town.

The 9-hole Crazy Golf course at Fairhaven Lake is a fibreglass type of layout with a number of obstacles on it. It's nicely set-out on a flat surface which aids putting.

A fun course for a game of minigolf

The course became the 436th course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. It was previously the 4th of (to date) 305 courses we've been unable to play on our travels.

I played two rounds of 9-holes and scored 22 on each of them. I aced the 6th hole in both rounds and also managed a hole-in-one on the 5th in round two.

Crazy Golf at Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan

Playing the Crazy Golf course at Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan.

On Saturday 8th April we headed to Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan to compete in the first-ever Great Northern Minigolf Open competition played out on the two miniature golf courses in the park.

The course was open and proving popular

The second course we played was the old Crazy Golf course operated by the Friends of Haigh Country Park group.

At £1 per game the course is the lowest price we've ever found for an 18-hole course on our travels. Amazing value for money.

The course was incredibly popular and had a good throughput of players all day. It's an interesting layout as the course has been added to over the years so has quite a hotch potch of obstacles. Not that that is a bad thing, it was certainly unique.

The Haigh Woodland Park Crazy Golf course was the 728th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour and the 701st in the UK. It became the 428th played on our travels since September 2006.

Visit the Friends of Haigh Country Park website for further information and course opening times. Back in 2012 the course was partly derelict, but the Friends group have done a brilliant job of getting it spruced up and fully open again.
