Arnold Palmer Putting Courses.
Arnold Palmer Putting Courses are a design classic and include all the elements that make a Crazy Golf course great – the Windmill, the Waterwheel, an Obelisk, ledges, bunkers, traps, flat loops, hills and plateaus – everything laid out to make a course interesting, testing and most of all fun!
They're my favourite type of minigolf course and I've visited most of those that still remain in the UK.
The Arnold Palmer branded miniature golf courses were part of the Arnold Palmer Enterprises empire set-up in 1961 that saw the legendary golfer's name licensed and franchised to a wide-range of activities and products including Dry Cleaning centres and an Arnold Palmer brand foot detergent.
By 1966 there were 130 Arnold Palmer Putting Courses in the USA, with ten in Japan and some in South Africa.
Southport's Crazy Golf course lays claim to being the first Arnold Palmer Putting Course in the UK (there is also some information that a course in Coventry opened as the first in 1965 and was part of an Arnold Palmer Driving Range in the city). An Arnold Palmer Putting course was also located at a Driving Range in Sheffield.
There's a new indoor entertainment venue in Stockport, and it has a Crazy Pool layout.
We spotted the signs for Cuetopia Stockport while walking in the nearby Cale Green area of Stockport today - the venue is home to a Crazy Pool course!
Crazy Pool is a cross between the cue sport of Pool and the putting game of Crazy Golf, with wacky and tricky obstacles placed upon the baize. Rather than using a putter, players use a pool/snooker cue to get the ball passed the obstacles and into the cup/hole/pocket.
Some of the 'Pool', 'Snooker' or 'Billiard' table layouts we've seen in these cue-sport and minigolf crossovers have been quite irregular to say the least.
Cuetopia Stockport is also home to an arcade, pinball, regular pool tables, and a bar. The venue is open Monday to Saturday, with details of the opening times on the Cuetopia Stockport website.
And visit the 501 Fun website for details of the interactive mini golf set-up.
Our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
We're yet to play one of 501 Fun's type of interactive mini golf games on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, so it's good to note there's one at Boom Battle Bar in Reading. We wonder where else they'll appear...
Crazier Golf and Crazier Nolf at Boom Battle Bars.
We've visited several Boom Battle Bars on our minigolfing adventures (most recently in Ipswich) and a number of them are home to Crazier Golf and Crazier Nolf courses.
We timed our visit perfectly during a wander round the city centre as the doors opened just after we arrived so we were able to be the first players on the course on a Saturday morning - a nice bonus for us as minigolf courses can get very busy, especially on weekends!

Our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
The Golf Fang indoor crazy golf course in Nottingham was the 1,088th course visited and 587th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.
Golf Fang was formerly known as Ghetto Golf, and we've previously been to their locations in Digbeth, Liverpool and Byker.
Video shop memories.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s I've got fond memories of visiting video shops with my family and picking out a film or two (generally one of the Police Academy films, action flicks, or horror movies as I got older!).
There were some 'interesting' titles in the BARGAIN BIN at Golf Fang!
Visiting Blockbuster Video stores.
At its peak in 2004 there were more than 9,000 Blockbuster Video stores around the world. 500+ of which were in England, Scotland and Wales. Interestingly in Northern Ireland the Xtra-Vision brand was used by the owners in-line with the Republic of Ireland.
The last Blockbuster Video shop ceased trading in the UK in December 2013.
Amazingly we've been able to find traces of the brand at 29 former store locations. This has ranged from QuikDrop boxes to parking signage to full shopfronts!

Playing Blockbuster Crazy Golf.
It was brilliant to play the immersive Blockbuster Video-themed Crazy Golf hole at Golf Fang Nottingham.

A big thank you to our friend and minigolf rival Gareth Holmes for sending over these photos of the Mini Golf by UrbanCrazy course at the Horniman Museum & Gardens in London.
He swung by the crazy golf course at the museum a little late in the day and it had just shut so he didn't get a chance to have a round this time.
