Did you know there are two 4D Cosmic Golf courses at Xplore at Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford, West Yorkshire?

One is the Search for Atlantis. A 6-hole layout with an underwater theme.

The other is the Curse of the Mummy in 3D. A 9-hole course.

Woodland Adventure Golf is now open at Shibden Park in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Shibden Park in Halifax is now home to a new 12-hole outdoor woodland-themed adventure golf course.

New Crazy Pool at Roxy Ball Room Merrion Street in Leeds

The team at Roxy Ball Room has recently refurbished their Merrion Street venue in Leeds city centre.

Part of the updates have seen a new 9-hole crazy pool course replace the one that was there before.

We played crazy pool at the Merrion Street location last summer. We'll have to check out the new crazy pool tables and layout when we're next in Leeds.

Volcano Falls Adventure Golf at the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds

Volcano Falls Adventure Golf is opening a new venue at the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds, West Yorkshire this year.

The new Volcano Falls Adventure Golf location will feature two indoor adventure golf courses.

We recently had a day out in Leeds and after a superb meal at The Oxford Place in the city centre we had a wander to find an activity - and remembered that when we last visited Leeds in the summer that a new minigolf course is under construction at St Johns Shopping Centre, and that it was now open.

The Hole In Wand Wizard Golf is a 9-hole indoor crazy golf course with a magical theme - and it certainly is immersive!

The layout contains nine unique holes - and there's a variety of gameplay apart from the putting itself.

Toys R Us at TGJones in Leeds

There's a Toys R Us at TGJones in Leeds city centre.

A Toys R Us concession has opened at the TGJones shop in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

The end of WHSmith, and the start of TGJones.

The start of July 2025 marked the end of WHSmith on the British high street after 233 years. Following the sale of the business to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital earlier this year WHSmith shops have been undergoing a rebrand to the new name of TGJones.

There were around 500 high street WHSmith shops, and another 580 travel stores in the UK. The WHSmith shops at railway stations, service stations and airports etc. are not affected by the rebrand as they were not part of the sale.

Toys R Us at TGJones and WHSmith.

As well being inside the rebranded TGJones shops, the relaunched Toys R Us brand can be found in sections of some travel hub WHSmith stores.

You can also find Toys R Us concessions at Hobbycraft stores.

Toys R Us in 2025.

Toys R Us returned to the UK shopping scene with an online presence in 2022 and with concessions opening inside some WH Smith shops in 2023. There are currently 127 Toys R Us stores open nationwide.

My first job while at university in the year 2000 was as one of Geoffrey's helpers at the Luton Toys R Us store. I worked on the video game and electronics section.

It's been very interesting to find that there are still remnants of the brand on some retail parks in the UK and we've visited several of these closed, abandoned, derelict and demolished Toys R Us locations on our travels.

While minigolf was traditionally a seaside summer pastime in the UK, the last decade or so has seen its growth into more urban settings, with many venues now catering to a late night audience. It can be the perfect activity for groups of friends, families, and young and old alike. The game continues to evolve and captivate players all year round.

The online presence of courses is improving, and the way businesses market themselves is always evolving, so it's becoming somewhat easier to find the opening and closing times of courses. That said, we've spent the last two decades attempting to play as many courses as possible, and even we've ended up finding courses to be derelict, abandoned or unplayable when we've arrived!

What is Crazy Pool?

Crazy Pool is a cross-between Crazy Golf and Pool, played on tables using golf balls and a cue.

A new adventure golf course is being created at Shibden Park in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Shibden Park in Halifax will soon be home to a new outdoor 12-hole woodland-themed adventure golf course.

Wakefield Exchange will have a crazy golf course as part of its Halloween event.

Wakefield Exchange in Wakefield, West Yorkshire is hosting a Halloween event from Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November.

A look at two new TGJones shops in Leeds.

We saw our first two of the newly branded TGJones shops while in Leeds recently.

It'll be interesting to see how the sale and rebrand affects the relationship between Toys R Us and the two brands. The relaunched Toys R Us brand can be found in sections of some high street and travel hub WHSmith stores, so I imagine there'll be Toys R Us concessions within both TGJones and WHSmith shops too...

We swung by the new King Pins location at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds while en route to Leeds city centre.

As well as Crazy Pool, King Pins Leeds is home to games including American Pool, Virtual Shooting, Tenpin Bowling, Ice-Free Curling, Duck Pin Bowling, Shuffleboard, Tech Darts, and Karaoke.

We've played Mini Golf at Kings Pins at the Manchester Arndale and the Trafford Palazzo, and Crazy Pool at King Pins' sister brand venues in Manchester (Arndale and Deansgate) and in Leeds city centre (Merrion Street) on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We spotted a sign for the Video Years video shop while having a wander round Leeds city centre on our recent trip to the city.

Video Years has a niche of being a video shop specialising in skateboard VHS & DVDs! It's also housed within a head shop!
