Crazy Golf on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk

A look back at the crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Last week I asked the question "Where in the world was this crazy golf course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour?".

The answer was the crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We first visited the 12-hole crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe on the 19th of November 2006.

We played it several times before parts of it (some of the holes and obstacles) were moved to the Ocean Boulevard minigolf course along the Seafront to make up an 8-hole crazy golf course in 2010. That course is now long gone too.

Happy 16th birthday to the Crazy Golf Museum

The Crazy Golf Museum is 16 years old today.

Many happy returns to the Crazy Golf Museum as it marks its 16th birthday today.

I set-up the museum with Crazy Golf legend, the late Tim 'Ace Man' Davies back on the 15th July 2010.

Since then the virtual online museum has continued to be filled to make it a treasure trove and archive for all things related to minigolf, crazy golf, adventure golf, miniature golf, Putt Putt, and putting.

It's certainly been a very interesting 16 years!

A BIG thank you to everyone who has shared their minigolfing memories, crazy golf items and adventure golf updates over the years. The Crazy Golf Museum is looking forward to continuing the promotion of the game for many more years to come.

Minigolf tournaments at Clambers Adventure Golf in Hastings

A look back at the 2010 BMGA Players Championships and BMGA British Open in Hastings, East Sussex.

I competed on the British Minigolf Association tour between 2007 and 2015 and many of those contests took place in the seaside town of Hastings in East Sussex.

In 2010 the BMGA Players Championships and BMGA British Open were held at Clambers Adventure Golf in White Rock Gardens (aka Planet Hastings).

I finished tied for 11th place in the 29 strong field of the BMGA Players Championships and 28th place of 56 in the BMGA British Open.

Clambers Adventure Golf is sadly now a lost course.

Where Clambers Adventure Golf sat was once a model village. After it closed it became an outdoor laser tag arena!

A look at the Folkestone Sports Centre Crazy Golf back in 2010.

The Folkestone Sports Centre Crazy Golf course was one of the most unique minigolf courses we've been to on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We played the outdoor 9-hole crazy golf course back in September 2010 when it became the 198th course played on our travels.

The 9-hole crazy golf layout was very interesting to say the least. It was constructed out of what appeared to be part of a former skate/BMX park, and was located in half of a derelict tennis court beside a dry ski-slope!

Looking on the Folkestone Sports Centre website it looks like the crazy golf course is long gone.

4D Golf - Glow-in-the-Dark Adventure Golf in Castleford

Did you know there are two 4D Cosmic Golf courses at Xplore at Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford, West Yorkshire?

One is the Search for Atlantis. A 6-hole layout with an underwater theme.

The other is the Curse of the Mummy in 3D. A 9-hole course.

The Xplore courses were the 199th and 200th visited on our travels back in 2010.

We swung by in 2020 too.

Stonehenge The BIG Mini Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk

A look at the Stonehenge-themed minigolf course in Hemsby, Norfolk in June 2010 and May 2022.

Stonehenge The BIG Mini Golf course was the 174th course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in June 2010 when it was a 15-hole layout. We first visited it in May 2009 when it was a 12-hole course. It's now an 18-hole course.

A snowy day at two lost minigolf courses in Luton

A look back at a snow day on the minigolf courses in Wardown Park, Luton.

When we lived down in Luton, Bedfordshire our local park had two miniature golf courses. One was a 9-hole grass Mini Golf layout, the other was a 9-hole fibreglass Crazy Golf course.

The grass course at Wardown Park opened in 1934 and was an interesting one to play. It was too big to be considered to be a Putting Green, but not large enough to be classed as a Pitch & Putt, even though you were issued with an iron and a putter when you played.

You also received a paper ticket every time you played a round on the courses. A really nice touch and something we've rarely seen elsewhere on our travels

Sadly both courses are now long gone. Luckily we played a lot of games there in the latter half of the noughties.

The area where the two courses were was turned into a mini meadow in 2015.

There is a new minigolf course near to where the other courses were. We visited it back in 2021.
