The Retrodome arcade in Barnsley, South Yorkshire is adding a minigolf course.

Retrodome - a retro arcade in Barnsley - will soon be home to a new indoor minigolf course.

Golf Fang in Sheffield

The Golf Fang crazy golf venue is now open in Sheffield.

The 18-hole indoor crazy golf course is on John Street.

You can find other Golf Fang crazy golf venues in Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow. With a new location opening in Leeds soon.

It's another new course for us to visit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The Golf Fang brand was previously known as Ghetto Golf.

Golf Fang Crazy Golf opening in Sheffield

A new 18-hole indoor Crazy Golf course is opening in Sheffield.

Golf Fang will be located in John Street. It'll be the second Golf Fang venue from the team behind Ghetto Golf. There are Ghetto Golf courses in Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Crazy Golf Adventure at Lakeside Village in Doncaster

Looking back at the Crazy Golf Adventure at Lakeside Outlet Shopping Village in Doncaster, Yorkshire.

The 9-hole pop-up Crazy Golf Adventure course at Lakeside Outlet Shopping Village in Doncaster, Yorkshire became the 397th course played and 678th visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We're big fans of Art Deco style, design and architecture and we've been remembering our trip to Doncaster last year and our stay at the superb Earl of Doncaster Hotel in Bennetthorpe.

We couldn't have asked for a better spot - Art Deco magnificence and the hotel was right next door to a park with a Crazy Golf course in it.

Danum House was another nice Art Deco building in the town centre.

We're looking forward to getting back out on our travels, exploring new places and revisiting our favourite spots when it's safe to do so in the future.

Minigolfing in Doncaster a year ago today

This time last year we were playing Crazy Golf at Sunnybank Gardens & The Yorkshire Ice Cream Farm in Hatfield, Doncaster.

The course was one of 20 we visited in the first 20 days of 2020.

Little did we know then that it would be the last course we'd play together until we managed a round again in August last year!

The trip to Doncaster was our last holiday too and while exploring the town we found a Crazy Golf course at Elmfield Park in Bennetthorpe and a layout at Hexthorpe Flatts Park.

From Blockbuster Video to Taco Bell

I've been taking a look into the world of Blockbuster Video during lockdown. We live near to an old store that still has visible signage and branding and it's always fun to pass by and see a glimpse of the past.

I've also found that back when we were freely able to travel around the country we had unknowingly 'visited' some former stores, most notably in Felixstowe, Suffolk. There, the old sign with its distinctive torn ticket outline had been used for a new business.

Tracking down old Blockbuster Video stores I've noted that there were two in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The one in Wombwell is now a charity shop and the old QuikDrop box is still in place. The other on Peel Street in the town centre is now a Taco Bell. We passed by it back in January 2019.

Not a Blockbuster

I always keep an eye out for Taco Bells on my travels. I think it's got something to do with the year 2032.

Sadly the old torn ticket sign from its days as a Blockbuster is long gone.

The Barnsley store closed along with the other last stores in December 2013. There had been 528 Blockbuster Video stores in the UK at the beginning of that year.

In addition to the Blockbuster Video locations in Fallowfield and Felixstowe we've visited the Blockbuster Video Express in Colne, Lancashire. Other former stores we've been to include the former stores in Prescot, Chester, Cheadle Hulme and Marple.

Ghetto Golf heading to Sheffield

Sheffield will be home to a new indoor crazy golf venue as Ghetto Golf are set to create a course in a vacant industrial warehouse in the John Street area of the city.

The adults-only indoor crazy golf course will also feature a bar and street food.

Ghetto Golf Sheffield will be the fourth venue, following Liverpool, Birmingham and Newcastle upon Tyne.

There are also plans for a Ghetto Golf course in Glasgow.

Crazy Golf at Lakeside Shopping Village in Doncaster, May 2016

A look back at the pop-up Crazy Golf course at Lakeside Shopping Village in Doncaster in May 2016.

We swung by the Lakeside Shopping Village in Doncaster for a round on their pop up Crazy Golf Adventure course that had been set up for the summer in 2016.

We're looking forward to seeing a return of retailtainment activities when its safe for them to do so in the future.

The 9-hole Lakeside Shopping Village Crazy Golf course was the 397th played and 678th visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since 2006.
