Did you know these things about miniature golf?

• The world's first miniature golf course was set-up at St Andrews, Scotland in 1867.
• James Barber opened the first minigolf course in the USA in 1916. The 'Lilliputian' miniature golf course was called 'Thistle Dhu' and located in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
• A Miniature Golf contest was part of the Olympic Games at the 1904 St Louis Games in the USA.
• Crazy Golf is 97 years old in 2023. The first course opened on South Parade in Skegness, Lincolnshire, England in 1926.

• 1926 also saw the first artificial miniature golf course open in the USA. Garnet Carter opened the 'Tom Thumb' miniature golf course near Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
• The first National Tom Thumb Golf Championship took place on the 23rd October 1930.
• The first Putt-Putt brand miniature golf course was set-up by Don Clayton in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA in 1954.

Guinness World Records 2024

The new Guinness World Records book is out today.

It was wonderful to buy the new Guinness World Records 2024 book today as I'm in it. Twice!

I'm a record holder for "Most miniature golf courses visited" (902 at the time of going to press).

And it was incredible to be a Consultant on the book for the minigolf category.

There are a total of 2,638 records, selected from nearly 30,000 applications, in the Guinness World Records 2024.

Wacky Social: Golf, Arcade, Bar in Darlington

A new indoor minigolf venue is opening in Darlington in 2024.

Wacky Social will be home to a crazy golf course, an arcade, and a bar - and it'll be located somewhere in Darlington, County Durham next year.

Foul Play at the Seaview Hotel - a new minigolf book by Glenda Young

There's a new murder mystery book out, and it features crazy golf in the plot!

Author and big minigolf fan Glenda Young has written a new book. Foul Play at the Seaview Hotel is the third in the Scarborough-set cosy crime series.

Foul Play at the Seaview Hotel will be available in the UK and internationally in both physical and e-versions from Thursday 14th September.

We were lucky enough to receive an advance copy from Glenda and it arrived yesterday. I'm pleased to say that I read it from cover to cover in one go and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Glenda blogs about minigolf at Two Crazy Golfers - with Scarborough a firm favourite location to play the game. It's one of our top tip for places to have a game too as there are so many courses there and such variety.

New Crazy Golf plans for Aberdeen

A former nightclub in Aberdeen could become a new Crazy Golf venue.

There are plans for a new Crazy Golf venue to open in Aberdeen city centre.

Glitch Golf would be home to four 9-hole indoor Crazy Golf courses.

New Crazy Golf planned for Carlisle

There are plans for a new Crazy Golf course at Botchergate in Carlisle.

The new indoor Crazy Golf course would be located in a former bingo venue in the city.

The location would also be home to other activities such as darts and tenpin bowling.

Boom Battle Bar in Southend

A new Boom Battle Bar venue is opening in Southend, Essex this year.

Boom Battle Bar will soon have a location at the Victoria Shopping Centre in Southend on Sea, Essex.

The venue will be home to a crazy golf course, as well as games such as shuffleboard and beer pong.

Boom Battle Bar Southend is due to open in October 2023.

Crazy Golf plans for King's Lynn

There are plans for a Crazy Golf course to open in King's Lynn, Norfolk.

The indoor Crazy Golf course is planned to open on the Hardwick Industrial Estate in King's Lynn.

It'd be a new course for us to visit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. We've got family in Norfolk and often stay in King's Lynn when visiting.

The business behind the Crazy Golf plans is Oceanus Leisure, owners of Little Sharks Soft Play Centre in the town.

Crazy Golf in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire

The seafront Crazy Golf course in Ardrossan, Scotland is being refurbished.

The Ardrossan Community Development Trust is undertaking work to develop the promenade in the seaside town. Part of the redevelopment will see the 18-hole Crazy Golf being refurbished.

We visited the Crazy Golf in Ardrossan on our trip to Scotland for the Glasgow 2014 Comonwealth Games. The course was right outside our hotel.

Puttstars Mini Golf at Hollywood Bowl Leeds

There's a Puttstars Mini Golf course at the Hollywood Bowl in Kirkstall, Leeds.

The recently refurbished Hollywood Bowl tenpin bowling centre in Kirkstall, Leeds is now home to a 9-hole Puttstars mini golf course too.

The course is the second Puttstars to open in Leeds. There's also a Puttstars Mini Golf venue at The Springs retail and leisure park.

Crazy Golf at Glebe Park in Bowness-on-Windermere

We managed to have a game on the Crazy Golf course at Glebe Park in Bowness-on-Windermere during our short break in the Lake District earlier this summer.

In our round on the 9-hole Crazy Golf course Emily won with a resounding 26 to 33 scoreline.

The course became the 567th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, having previously been visited in 2012.

New Crazy Golf at Clarence Pier in Portsmouth

A new Crazy Golf course has opened at Clarence Pier in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

The Putt Hutt is an 18-hole indoor Crazy Golf layout and opened at Clarence Pier today (Saturday 5th August).

The new course is next door to Treasure Island Adventure Golf, the first place we played crazy golf back in 2006 on what would become our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

It'll be interesting to play The Putt Hutt on our next visit to Portsmouth and Southsea.

We last visited Ambleside on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in April 2012 when the location was also home to a Putting layout. That has been replaced by Croquet.

Swingers Crazy Golf in Las Vegas

A new Swingers Crazy Golf venue is opening in Las Vegas, USA in 2024.

The new Swingers Crazy Golf location will be at MGM's Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Swingers Crazy Golf Las Vegas will be home to five Crazy Golf course spread across three floors.

Swingers Crazy Golf began as a pop-up in London, England back in 2014 where it now has two permanent locations. You can also find Swingers Crazy Golf courses in New York City and Washington DC.

New Crazy Golf course in Towyn

A new Crazy Golf course is opening in Towyn, North Wales.

The 12-hole Crazy Golf course is located at the Old School House on Towyn Road.

The outdoor Crazy Golf course will have a castle-theme to it.
