A minigolf blog from Lanzarote

A look at some minigolf courses in Lanzarote.

Emily should've been on holiday with her sister Jo in Lanzarote this week. Like many people's holidays this year the trip has been postponed until a later date when it's safe.

Luckily Jo and her husband Les have been to Lanzarote before and have sent us photos of the miniature golf courses they've played and visited there.

Similarly, if you're a minigolf course owner or manager we'd love to hear from you.

A new minigolf course from Spain

While a lot of the world is in lockdown people have been 'Putting at Home', creating their own crazy golf layouts and playing minigolf board games.

The team at Plakks have also taken the time to launch the new Pitch & Plakks indoor minigolf game.

What's wrong with this picture?

My sister-in-law Jo sent me this snap from a shopping trip to Waitrose. Can you see what's out of place?

Graffiti Golf in Blackpool

A visit to play Graffiti Golf in Blackpool.

Graffiti Golf in Blackpool

After visiting more than 800 courses since 2006 you'd think we'd have run out of new things to see on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. But you'd be wrong.

For last week we played a course in Blackpool that had a Graffiti Pirate theme!

Pirate Graffiti Golf! I suppose all graffiti is technically a 'pirate' activity

Back in 2009 the course was a 'normal' indoor Pirate Adventure Golf course and the 151st played on our travels. Since then the venue has changed hands a couple of times. In 2016 it was a Merlin Pirate Adventure Mini Golf course.

This time however things were very different again as the layout is now a UV glow in the dark experience.

We all score a hole-in-one, except Jo. Although none of us aced this hole

In our match-up on the Graffiti Golf course Emily won with a round of 31. I was runner-up on 35, with Emily's sister Jo and our nephew Luke tied on 39.

Crazy Golf course in Southwold, Suffolk

Photos and details of the Crazy Golf course in Southwold.

My sister-in-law Jo and niece Kate were in the seaside town of Southwold today and spotted a Crazy Golf course there! It's a course we didn't know about and one we'll have to visit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour when we're back in Suffolk.

You can find the Crazy Golf course at Southwold Boating Lake & Cafe, North Parade, Southwold, Suffolk IP18 6BN. I love the description of Crazy Golf as an 'ancient art' on the Tea Room's website.

Back in 2009 Emily and I visited Southwold, but found out we were two days early to play the grass Putting Green near the pier.

Jo has also found Crazy Golf courses on her travels, notably in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote and in Bury St Edmunds.

Putting at North Lodge Park in Cromer

The 691st course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was at North Lodge Park in Cromer, Norfolk.

There's a sign for the Putting outside North Lodge Park

Unfortunately the course wasn't open on our visit. Or indeed easily identifiable as a Putting course!

But there's no sign of a Putting course inside

It'd be a lovely spot for a game of minigolf though

Castaway Island Mini Golf in Great Yarmouth

On Friday 15th July we were in Great Yarmouth for the first time in a few years and got to have a look at the new Castaway Island Mini Golf course that replaced the 9-hole and 18-hole Arnold Palmer Putting courses on the promenade.

The two courses that used to be on the site were the 22nd and 23rd courses played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in June 2007.

The new Castaway Island Mini Golf course became the 693rd visited on our travels since September 2006.

Cromer Putting

The 405th course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was at Cromer Putting.

Emily had visited the course on the 13th July to make it number 689 on our tour, but had waited until my arrival on the 14th to give it a play.

Emily, Jo and me ready to tee-off at Cromer Putting

It's brilliant fun, with fantastic views. It's also one of the longest Putting courses we've ever played and is certainly a unique layout.

The people at the 18-hole course were very friendly and the lady showed me an old postcard showing the course in the 1930's - it was instantly recognisable. A round on the course costs £2.50 for adults and is a must play course if you're in the area.

In our match-up Emily and I drew on 50 apiece. Jo was third.

Cromer Putting has a sister Pitch & Putt course at The Meadow in the town centre. That looks like a very BIG miniature golf course!
