'Ecto-1' in Scarborough

Spotting a Ghostbusters car in Scarborough.

Last Friday we were in Scarborough and while walking back from the North Bay seafront we spotted Ecto-1 drive past us! We didn't have time to grab a snap.

That was until I spotted it again on Saturday. This time in the South Bay.

Mini Golf in a Stockport charity shop

Another odd location for a Crazy World of Minigolf Tour course visit.

While having a wander round Stockport town centre we nipped into the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline charity shop and lo' and behold we spotted a 'Mini Golf' layout!

Another ludicrous photo of me playing miniature golf. This layout was very mini

The day before the shop had held a fun day and Mini Golf was one of the games on offer. Take a look at the sign.

Another fun day out in Stockport

I got to have three goes for 50p.

My first shot drew a heckle of 'weak' from the lady in the shop. Admittedly it was an underpowered shot.

My second was an Ace. Yee-ha!

My third and final shot drifted had the right weight behind it, but was wide of the mark.

Unexpectedly I was rewarded with a bag of sweets for my efforts.

Check out the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline charity website for more information about their work.

The Mini Golf course visit was number 696 overall, with the layout the 407th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since the 30th September 2006.

This was the third Miniature Golf course we've found since we moved to Cheadle Hulme from Luton. The first was a 9-hole Grass Putting course at the Park Square office on Bird Hall Lane in Cheadle Heath. The second was the Pitch and Putt course at Bruntwood Park in Cheadle.

Allan Cox's 100 Minigolf Trick Shots Video

My antipodean Minigolf chum Allan 'The Putter King' Cox has put(t) together a great video of 100 Minigolf Trick Shots!

Two and a half years in the making the 21 minute video shows the crazy minigolfer playing at a variety of Putt Putt, Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses down under and making a huge array of brilliant miniature golf trickshots!

Check it out on YouTube and below.

The video was made in aid of the Bear Cottage children's hospice in Australia and every view of the video helps generate income for the good cause.

Cullercoats Lifeboat Charity Evening and the 'Raffletech 3010'

A Northumbrian Night fundraising event for the Cullercoats Lifeboat.

A recent visit to the north east saw our friend John 'Johnny Waffles' Moore take us to a Northumbrian Night in aid of the Whitley Bay & Cullercoats Lifeboat Guild.

Poster for the Northumbrian Night in aid of the Cullercoats Lifeboat

The evening was held at the Cullercoats Crescent Club and was good fun, with song & dance and food & drink in a nice environment, and all for a great cause.

Regular readers of this blog will know I'm a fan of the obscure and ludicrous, but I was amazed at one of the prize draws during the night.

We've been to some interesting events on our travels - with the Thanet Ladies Auxiliary Quiz Night 2008 a highlight - but the Members Box Draw at this event was up there with the best of them!

Tickets for the Cullercoats Crescent Club Members Box Draw - administered by the Raffletech 3010

I'm a big fan of a good old fashioned tombola and always go in for a raffle, but the Members Box Draw saw a machine called the Raffletech 3010 brought out to decide the winner!

The Raffletech 3010 - you really need to see this beauty in all its lit-up glory!

I'm not exaggerating when I say it wouldn't look out of place in a 'World of Tomorrow Feature' from an issue of a comic book printed in the 1950's!

The Northumbrian Night was great entertainment - from the Newcastle Cloggies (dancers and musicians) - in good company, in a nice social club setting and some very reasonable drinks prices.

Note: I erroneously called the Raffletech 3010 'The Raffletron 3000' after seeing it on the night. Either way, what a machine!

The Cereal Quest breakfast cereal blog

The Cereal Quest blog - one man's quest to eat every type of breakfast cereal available in the UK.

Fellow Crazy Golfer Phil Botto is renowned in the Minigolf world as the man who plays the World Crazy Golf Championships with a different 'themed' Putter each year!

In previous events he's used everything from a Black & Decker Strimmer to a converted camera tripod, a bit of wood and even a ukulele!

Phil is on a "Cereal Quest" to eat every main UK cereal and he's into his second year of the adventure! He's documenting the quest on his fun blog/diary and raising money for The Trussell Trust - a UK charity that that works to empower local communities to combat poverty and exclusion in the UK and Bulgaria.

Check out The Cereal Quest website for more details and posts. You can view a list of Cereals he's scoffed so far (in a chronological order) here.

My favourite breakfast cereal is a gluten free one made by Barkat and called Chocolate Pillows. I view them as less of a breakfast item though and more of a chocolate snack!

Once Phil has eaten his way through the 'mainstream' cereals he may consider giving the gluten and wheat free ones a try. I notice from the very first blog post on The Cereal Quest that he's an IBS sufferer, he may find that the gluten and wheat free breakfast options may alleviate some symptoms...

Save the Children UK's Christmas Jumper Day 2012

Will you be wearing a festive jumper for Christmas Jumper Day?

Tomorrow (Friday 14th December) marks the first-ever official Christmas Jumper Day and people all over the country will be dressing in (a sort of style) to support Save the Children UK's festive fundraising campaign.

You can donate to Save the Children online and do share photos of you wearing your Christmas Jumper on the Save the Children Facebook page.

You don't even need to splash out on a new Christmas Jumper - why not add a bit of tinsel and baubles to an existing one! There are some FAQs on the Save the Children website with more info.

I'll be wearing my 'lucky' Snowman Christmas Jumper on Friday :-)

Taking part in a Guinness World Record attempt for "The most people to ‘High Five’ simultaneously"

Attempting a Guinness World Record in Luton.

On Monday 10th of October 2011 I headed to St Georges Square, Luton to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt for the most people to ‘High Five’ simultaneously. The event was held to mark World Mental Health Day and was organised by the Make A Difference (MAD) group.

The previous/current record stands at 1,790 people simultaneously High Fiving, but the MAD attempt counted over 2,100 people taking part.

Preparing my High Fiving arm for the Guinness World Record Attempt in Luton's St Georges Square

A story was written in last week’s Herald & Post newspaper (page 21)  and unfortunately for me, just as the photo used was being taken I was in a ‘preparation’ stage of giving a High Five (we had a few dummy runs), so it looks as though I’m doing a Fonz impression!?
