Shibden Park Miniature Railway in Halifax

A visit to the Shibden Miniature Railway at Shibden Park in Halifax.

Shibden Park Miniature Railway in Halifax

While in Halifax on Saturday we visited Shibden Park to check out the Pitch & Putt and Crazy Golf courses there.

As a nice bonus we also found the park is home to a miniature railway.

We're looking forward to a return visit to ride the railway in the summer.

Visit the Shibden Park Miniature Railway Facebook Page for more information and opening times.

We also saw The Shibden Express while at the park. What a fine park bench.

There was a nice tree trunk bench in the park too. It'd been carved in the shape of a viaduct and tunnel, including a train.

A lost minigolf course in Stafford

Looking for the minigolf course at Wildwood Park in Stafford.

In September 2017 we visited Stafford to look for a miniature golf course at Wildwood Park.

There was no sign of it.

We did however find the Crazy Golf course at the nearby Rowley Park Stadium.

Benches in Middlewich, Cheshire

A look at some benches on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

Bench in Middlewich, Cheshire
Welcome to Middlewich. Please take a seat

I was in Middlewich on Saturday and as it was the my first time in the small town I had a good wander around.

On my walk I found the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

A nice spot for a sit down. If it wasn't tipping it down that is

The thing that really caught my eye was this unusual bench next to the towpath.

As it was raining quite heavily I didn't get to walk too far alongside the canal, but on my wander I did spot some other benches of interest.

Since being members of the Dull Men's Club and finding out about the Park Bench Appreciation Society from our friend Leland we can't help but see interesting benches everywhere we go!

Bender Bending Rodríguez on a park bench in Didsbury, Manchester

After visiting the Didsbury & South Manchester Car Show at Didsbury Park on Sunday we went for a wander around Fletcher Moss Park.

There are some interesting benches there including this one.

There's a lot of intricate detail and for some reason Bender from Futurama is riding an owl on it!

We couldn't see a plaque on the bench or and info as to why he's depicted on it.

Charter member of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour Christopher Gottfried has been off on his travels in continental Europe again and this time has come up trumps in finding a minigolf course at Lac de la Cavayère.

However, the course is only open in July and August!

Christopher remarked that the place seems to combine my love of mini golf and park benches... one for every hole it seems!

What a lovely spot it'd be to have a sit down

There do certainly seem to be ample facilities for sitting

A couple of days ago Christopher was in Sète and spotted Mini Golf listed on this map (C1), however it's been turned into a skatepark.

C1 is now a skatepark

Earlier this month Christopher ticked off a few more minigolf course visits in Europe during a cycling trip in the Mosel Valley in Luxembourg and Germany.
