Crazy Golf in Church Stretton

A visit to the Crazy Golf course in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

We travelled through Shropshire on our drive down to South Wales last Friday and after leaving Shrewsbury we stopped off at Church Stretton to visit the Crazy Golf course in the main town park.

The 9-hole course was the 913th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Unfortunately the course was locked up on our visit

It looked like an interesting layout and one we'd liked to have played if it was open.

It appeared to be a mixture of Eternit miniature golf and Beton concrete styles, types more commonly found in continental Europe.

Miniature Railway at Abbotsfield Park in Manchester

A look at the model railway at Abbotsfield Park in Flixton, Manchester.

Last Saturday we were driving from the Trafford Centre to Altrincham and decided to take a 'scenic' route. It's always interesting exploring new places and over the years we've found a number of hidden and previously unknown miniature golf courses this way.

This time however we spotted a miniature railway at Abbotsfield Park in Flixton.

The model railway at Abbotsfield Park is operated by the Urmston & District Model Engineering Society.

You can get rides around the park and there was a train running while we were there. But it was very very rainy so we didn't have a go on it.

Since we moved up to Greater Manchester we've found quite a few miniature railways. There are three in Stockport borough!

Putting at Queens Park in Burnley

A visit to the Putting Course at Queens Park in Burnley, Lancashire.

We were in Burnley at the weekend and once again Emily struck minigolf gold as she found us a Putting Course to visit!

Unfortunately the interesting looking layout wasn't open.

The course hadn't been cut in for the season, but we could see that most of the cups were in place.

It's the first time we've seen solid wooden posts used as the 'flags'. It'd be fun trying to score a hole-in-one getting a rebound off the posts.

After visiting the Didsbury & South Manchester Car Show at Didsbury Park on Sunday we went for a wander around Fletcher Moss Park.

There are some interesting benches there including this one.

There's a lot of intricate detail and for some reason Bender from Futurama is riding an owl on it!

We couldn't see a plaque on the bench or and info as to why he's depicted on it.

Crazy Golf at Eureka Park in Swadlincote

A visit to the Crazy Golf course at Eureka Park in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.

While en route to Leicester to compete in the final of the Caddyshackers Open tournament we made a stop in Swadlincote to have a look for the Crazy Golf course at Eureka Park.

The Crazy Golf course at Eureka Park in Swadlincote was the 910th course we've visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The felt on the course looked relatively new

The colourful miniature golf course at Eureka Park looked really nice.

A nice spot to have a sit down

However we couldn't find the Park Keeper to hire a putter and balls from so it was an unplayed course visit this time.

The Putters were ever so close!
