The Pirate Bay Adventure Golf course in Guernsey is hosting the inaugural Pirate Bay Easter Open minigolf competition this week until the 10th April.
The tournament is open to all, with players submitting their scores between the 24th March and the 10th April. 20 children and 20 adults will then make 'the cut' and be invited to compete in the grand final on the 15th April.
Thanks to my mate and minigolf rival Tiger Pragnell for letting me know about the event.
Find out more on the Pirate Bay Adventure Golf website.
We're looking forward to visiting Guernsey and having a round on the new course. My fellow minigolf enthusiast played the course last year and guest blogged about it here on the Ham and Egger Files.
Pirate Bay Adventure Golf is located at The Golf Club @ St Pierre Park, Guernsey.

That's a BIG minigolf volcano! |
Many thanks to fellow Crazy Golf adventurer Simon Dewhurst for sending over some pics from his visit to the new Pirate Bay Adventure Golf course at St Peter Port, Guernsey.
The first guillotine I've ever seen on a minigolf course! |
No wonder there's a graveyard on the course! |

Bar Billiards at The Goose in Jersey
Spotting a Bar Billiards table at The Goose in Beaumont.
I haven't blogged about Bar Billiards for a while so it was nice that Emily sent over a snap of the table at The Goose in Beaumont in Jersey. Unfortunately she was unable to play it though as it was broken.
Jersey is a hotbed for Bar Billiards and the venue for World Championship tournaments. Although we struggled to find any tables there during our holiday last summer!?

Petanque in Jersey
Earlier this year we spent a great week in Jersey having a chilled out holiday.
While there we spotted the players from the Liberation Petanque Club having some games in Weighbridge Gardens in St Helier. Having a look on the Jersey Petanque Association website there are plenty of pistes to play on. It was nice scrolling through the list of places to play as we'd visited a lot of the towns on our holiday and the names brought back some great memories.
As we've got into playing the game since moving to the Stockport area it's nice to know the island is well catered for as we'd very much like to return to Jersey in the future. It's such a nice place for a relaxing break.
We're now members of the Woodstock Petanque Club, which meets at Alexandra Park in Edgeley, Stockport every other Sunday. Through the club I heard about the Jersey Petanque Club's 2017 Open competition. It sounds like fun.
We spotted another petanque terrain on one of our other island trips this year, at Puckpool Park on the Isle of Wight.
Check out the Jersey Petanque Association website for more information on playing the game on the island.

Some petanque being played in St Helier. In the background you can see the Steam Clock, the terrain next to it has a six game capacity - we never even realised Petanque was played on that spot too |

Bar Billiards in Jersey
Back in 2013 I was playing Bar Billiards against Brad 'The Fist' Shepherd at the Charles II in London when a pub character told us about a table at the Dog & Sausage pub in St Helier, Jersey.
On our holiday earlier this week we popped into the pub hoping for a game. Only to find that the table had been removed.
We also had a look in the Merton hotel - venue for the 2014 World Championships - but there was no sign of a table there either.
Before leaving the island we really wanted to get a game in and when we spotted the words 'Bar billiards' on a pub chalkboard sign we thought we were in luck. Sadly the table at The Caesarea had also gone.
The landlady there was friendly though and managed to find out there were still tables at The Devonshire and The Mont Felard. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit either pub before our flight left.
Bar Billiards is a great pub game, it's a real shame there aren't more tables around.
Check out the All England Bar Billiards Association (AEBBA) website for more details of the game and where to play.

You can't play Bar Billiards at the Dog & Sausage in St Helier any more |

What's a more permanent way of advertising something than a chalkboard. Unfortunately the 'Bar billiards' listing on the sign at The Caesarea must of been on there quite some time |
