A look at the first three holes

On Sunday 3rd September we swung by York Art Gallery to play Doug Fishbone's Leisure Land Golf course. The 7-hole layout became the 451st we've played and 763rd visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.

In our match-up on the course I picked up the win with a score of 16 to Emily's 38.

My score was enough to top the leaderboard - the previous best on the day had been 26. Although when we walked back through the gardens just as the course was closing a score of 15 had been made later in the day

Doug Fishbone's Leisure Land Golf course was open at York Art Gallery throughout the summer following its installation as part of an Art Happens campaign to bring the course to York. It was originally created for the Venice Biennale in 2015 and last year was in Nottingham and Derby. I played the course in Nottingham - it was 10-holes then. And indoors.

Who knows where it'll be installed next...

Minigolf is a popular theme for artists and we've played a few other art-installation pop-up crazy golf courses on our travels. Our friends of at A Couple of Putts have also created a few holes, obstacles and courses for art galleries and shows!

Crazy Golf at York Golf Range

On Sunday 3rd September we visited York Golf Range in Towthorpe near Strensall to play the Crazy Golf course there. The 11-hole layout became the 452nd we've played and 764th visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.

In our match-up on the Adventure Crazy Golf course Emily picked up the win with a score of 40 to my round of 42.

As well as the Crazy Golf there's also a Driving Range, 9-hole Golf course and a good looking Footgolf layout.

The Footgolf course at York Golf Centre was a lot shorter than other layouts I've seen. It looked good, like a Footgolf 'Putting' course

Steaks on a Plane

So, on our way back to Stockport from Wigan we got lost in Bolton as the slip road to the M61 was closed. But I'm glad we did as we spotted a Boeing 737 on the side of the road. It's now used as a restaurant! We had to park up and get a photo.

DartsCrazy - the new game from UrbanCrazy

UrbanCrazy's new DartsCrazy game will be free to play at Regents Place in London next Friday, 8th September between 11am and 3pm.

Emily's friend, colleague and minigolf rival Darren Howe has come up trumps again as he gave us a scorecard from the Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf course at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm from his recent visit.

Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf is one of our new local courses but we haven't had time to visit The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm since we moved to Stockport last summer.

Darren tells us the course was incredibly busy on his visit. That's a good sign.

The Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf course looks great - with some oversized ice cream-related obstacles and theming.

Happy September. Don't forget it's Miniature Golf Day on the 21st!

Each year there are two quasi-official annual 'days' to celebrate the game.

Playing at Championship Adventure Golf in New Brighton on National Miniature Golf Day (Saturday 13th May 2017)

The second of these awareness days is Miniature Golf Day and it is ALWAYS on the 21st of September.

Miniature Golf Day appears as an important date in the Dull Men's Club Calendar for 2017

After Miniature Golf Day the next is National Miniature Golf Day which is on Saturday 12th May 2018.

Fellow Stockport resident Dave Shaw is the Dull Men's Club pin-up for September. His interest is in vintage radios

Olivia Prokopová's minigolf book

Minigolf superstar Olivia Prokopová has a book and DVD out.

My friend, minigolf rival and all-round miniature golf superstar Olivia Prokopová has a book and DVD out and I've finally added them to my collection. While my Czech language skills are non-existent the book is still well worth a look as it is a great archive and chronicle of Olivia's career.

Google Translate tells me that "Cesta za Zelenym sakem" means "The path behind the green jacket"

Flicking through the pages there are lots of brilliant photos from tournaments and courses around the world and it was great fun spotting characters from the world of minigolf - past and present - in the book.

Olivia is the reigning and two-time World Crazy Golf Champion and has won a multitude of titles over her career. Visit Olivia Prokopová's website for more information.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf at Cheshire Oaks

Inside this Art Deco style building are 36-holes spread over two Adventure Golf courses

On Saturday 22nd July we swung by the Paradise Island Adventure Golf centre at Cheshire Oaks for a game on the Coral Cove minigolf course.

The layout was the 745th we've visited and 440th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

This was a horror of a hole to play

In our match-up I picked up the win with a score of 43 to Emily's 46. Neither score was enough to trouble the leaderboard for the PIAG Open competition which was running during our visit. Emily did manage to win a free game on the Lucky Last Hole though.

My favourite part of the course was the 'bottomless pit'!

We'll be back to play the Lazy Lagoon course in the future.
