Alton Water Mini Golf in Ipswich
A visit to the Alton Water Mini Golf course in Ipswich, Suffolk.
My brother and Charter Member of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour has sent over some photos of the miniature golf course at Alton Water in Suffolk.
The Alton Water Mini Golf course is the 982nd course visited overall on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.
The course was created by the team at UrbanCrazy and opened earlier this year.
Check out the Alton Water website for more information, opening times and prices.
Visit the UrbanCrazy website for more information about the courses they build and minigolf supplies they offer.
The Crazy World of Minigolf Tour
Christopher and his family have visited 36 courses on their branch of the tour, 26 of those have been unique to them. Emily and I have visited 956 courses on the main tour.
Christopher has been to four courses in 2020.
We've been to a total of 46 courses in 2020, with 15 of those being new courses visited. We've swung by eight new courses in the time of coronavirus.
We've got 40 of the original 600 we set out to visit left and a lot of new courses to play at too!

Many thanks to James Palmer from UrbanCrazy for sending over some snaps of the new minigolf course at Alton Water in Suffolk.
We're looking forward to having a game there on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in the future. We'd normally have been to see family and friends in Ipswich a number of times already this year but haven't been able to get back once yet. Fingers crossed we'll get there at some point this year!

New minigolf course at Alton Water
A new miniature golf course is opening soon at Alton Water in Suffolk.
The team at UrbanCrazy are putting the finishing touches to a new minigolf course at Alton Water in Suffolk.
Each hole will have an information board with details of Alton Water and Anglian Water.
You can see some photos of the course on the Alton Water Facebook Page.
Check out the Alton Water website for more about the reservoir and water park.
We're looking forward to playing the course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. It's not too far from Ipswich so will be good to visit while in town to see family and friends.
Alton Water is one of seven Water Parks operated by Anglian Water. Rutland Water also has a minigolf course. We played there in 2015.

Art and sculpture trails
A look at some of the art and and sculpture trails we've followed this year.
This summer we've seen a number of different art and sculpture trails pop-up in Greater Manchester and beyond.
Last year there was the Bee in the City trail in Manchester with 100 big bees and 130 little bees to spot. Some of those are still in situ.
A bee in Didsbury |
There was also an ice sculpture trail in Stockport town centre last December and this summer the town has had a very popular frog trail with 22 decorated frogs to spot on the Giant Leap.

As fans of tickable lists, wandering and exploring we've enjoyed the different art and sculpture trails we've taken part in.
Earlier this summer the Trafford Centre had a Big Bug Tour and on a recent trip to the Lowry Outlet mall in Media City we saw there was a Bear Hunt.

The latest trail we followed was quite unexpected. On a trip to visit family and friends in Ipswich we noticed an elephant sculpture at the side of the road and soon noticed a lot more of them on the drive to our hotel.
Elephant number 1 - Pip - the first of the elephants we saw |
They were part of Elmer's Big Parade Suffolk in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice with 139 placed around Ipswich. In the short time we were in town we managed to find 55 of them.

We've also found quite a few more of the Space Invader pieces of street art by the French artist Invader on our trips to London and Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as well as seeing some reactivated pieces in Manchester city centre.

The various trails and maps we've followed have seen us explore new places, see different things and also rediscover parts of towns and cities.
They're a nice way to bring communities together, attract and retain visitors to towns, shopping centres and malls, as well as raising money for good causes.
Do you have a favourite art-trail, or know of others? Do let us know in the comments.

Miniature Railway in Ipswich
Taking a look at the track layout at Ipswich Model Engineering Society.
We recently found out there's a Miniature Railway in Ipswich. Emily grew up in the town and we visit often, but never knew about it!
Last Sunday we popped along for a look. It was marvellous.
The station, bridge and signage at Ipswich Miniature Railway - wonderful |
Hopefully we'll be able to coincide a future visit to the town with one of the Ipswich Model Engineering Society open days.
We had a nice chat with one of the club members who told us about the history of the club and track layouts. Ipswich Model Engineering |
Check out the Ipswich Model Engineering Society website and Facebook group for more info.
You can find the Miniature Railway tucked away down this path off Foxhall Road |

World Pickled Egg Championships 2015
An unpickled egg that won me the World Egg Throwing Championships in 2012 |
The World Pickled Egg Championships (WPEC) is hosted by the pub and there are guidelines on how to enter your potentially prize winning egg in the prestigious contest in the latest newsletter from the pub.
The deadline for entries is midday on the 10th October, with celebrity judging taking place from 6pm and the winner announced at 7pm.
You can find The Brewery Tap on Cliff Road, Cliff Quay, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 0AT. It's a nice spot and they've got a dartboard there too.
As you can imagine, with a blog called The Ham & Egger Files I've got quite a few egg-related stories and posts! One of the highlights of my sporting career was when me and my mate Jas Kukielka became the World Alternative Games Egg Throwing Champions in 2012!
