Emily and I haven't made it to the Alton Water Mini Golf course on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour yet. However, my brother Christopher - a Charter Member of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour - did visit the course in September 2020.

The Ipswich Portal in Ipswich, Suffolk

There's a portal to different cities in Ipswich town centre.

No one was at the Brazil side of the portal while we were in Ipswich on Saturday afternoon

The Ipswich Portal is a live public art sculpture that links different places around the world.

The Ipswich Portal opened in October 2025 and has a real-time video link to six cities around the world between 6am and 11pm (UK time).

The seven places linked by the portals are:

• Dublin, Ireland
• Manila, Philippines
• Lublin, Poland
• Philadelphia, USA
• Vilnius, Lithuania
• Piauí, Brazil

TGJones (formerly WHSmith) closed in Ipswich, Suffolk

The TGJones shop (formerly WHSmith) closed down in Ipswich, Suffolk last month.

TGJones closed in Ipswich on the 9th June 2025.

The end of WHSmith, and the start of TGJones

The start of July 2025 marked the end of WHSmith on the British high street after 233 years. Following the sale of the business to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital WHSmith shops underwent a rebrand to the new name of TGJones.

We played the 9-hole outdoor Adventure Golf course in the pub beer garden of The Railway Inn in Westerfield, near Ipswich, Suffolk on a visit to the town to see family last year.

Our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The Adventure Golf course at The Railway became the 1,064th course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, the 1,007th we'd been to in the British Isles, and the 575th course played on our travels since 2006.

We've now been to 1,099 miniature golf courses to date, with 1,038 of them being in the British Isles. Of these 1,099 we've been able to play 591 (some many many many times over).

Adventure Golf in Christchurch Park, Ipswich

There are plans for a new adventure golf course to be created in Ipswich's Christchurch Park.

Christchurch Park in Ipswich, Suffolk could be home to a new adventure golf course.

Plans have been submitted to create an outdoor 18-hole adventure golf course on an area of the park previously used as a croquet lawn.

Ipswich is Emily's home town and we visit family and friends there often, so it'll be interesting to check out the new course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour when it's built.

We'd previously swung by Boom: Battle Bar in Ipswich back in 2022 when it became the 1,009th course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. On our most recent return trip to the town we had time for a game.

In our minigolf match I scored the win with a round of 13 shots (including 5 holes-in-one!) to Emily's round of 19

Playing the first Boom: Battle Bar Crazier Golf course.

We've previously played the Crazier Golf course at Boom: Battle Bar in the Castle Quarter shopping and entertainment centre in Norwich, Norfolk. That location was the first Boom: Battle Bar venue to open. We played that course in August 2021.

The Boom: Battle Bar Crazier Golf course in Norwich was the landmark 1,000th course visited by Richard, Emily & Christopher Gottfried on the combined Crazy World of Minigolf Tour! We're now up to 1,132 courses visited since September 2006.
