20 for 20: 20 years of our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

This month we're celebrating two decades of our crazy minigolfing adventures.

We first visited Felixstowe in Suffolk on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour in November 2006 - and we've been back many many many times since.

We've played a lot of minigolf, crazy golf and adventure golf there. And some grass putting.

While minigolf has been a constant in the seaside town for decades, the actual courses themselves have seen changes over the years.

We've played minigolf at Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe a lot over the years. The first time we played there was back on the 19th November 2006 when it became the fifth course we ever visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. It was also the first indoor minigolf course we played.

Back then it was one of only two indoor minigolf courses in the whole of the UK! The other was at The Windmill Theatre in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and is still there too.

There are now a lot more indoor minigolf venues than there were back in the mid-noughties.

The Golf FX course at Manning's Amusements was a brilliant layout, with lots of optical illusions and practical effects. It was a unique course and ahead of its time with its sound and light effects. 20 years later and over a thousand courses later, very few we have been to have come close to capturing the fun of it.

Since our first visit to Manning's Amusements the course had a several upgrades, refurbishments and name changes - it was called 'Golf FX' when we first played and has been known as 'Magical Golf', 'Magical Golf FX' and 'Harry Putter and the Magical Crazy Golf'. Until the course finally closed and reopened as a new indoor Street Golf course in 2025.

A look back at the crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Last week I asked the question "Where in the world was this crazy golf course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour?".

The answer was the crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We first visited the 12-hole crazy golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe on the 19th of November 2006.

We played it several times before parts of it (some of the holes and obstacles) were moved to the Ocean Boulevard minigolf course along the Seafront to make up an 8-hole crazy golf course in 2010. That course is now long gone too.

Our friend Sophia Cook spotted these two Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube-Men on a recent trip to Felixstowe.

I don't often need another reason to visit Felixstowe - it's probably our most visited seaside - but now I have two! I'm looking forward to finding these airdancers later this summer.

Street Golf Felixstowe at Manning's Amusements

The new Street Golf course at Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk is opening soon.

Street Golf Felixstowe is opening at Manning's Amusements in the seaside town and it is hoped to be completed and open this month.

We were in Felixstowe last month and swung by Manning's Amusements and Beach Street. The old entrance to the indoor course had been sealed off, with a new entrance to the course created at the rear of the building

Felixstowe will be home to two new 9-hole indoor Crazy Golf courses as Street Golf Felixstowe opens inside Manning's Amusements at Beach Street in the Suffolk seaside town.

Construction work is underway at the site of the former Magical Golf FX course.

We're looking forward to checking out the new Street Golf layouts when they open.

It was a unique course and ahead of its time with its sound and light effects. 19 years later and many many many courses later, very few we have been to have come close to capturing the fun of it.

Over the last few years the team at Manning's have transformed the amusements and leisure area to incorporate Beach Street - a container yard for dining, drinking and entertainment.

You can get lovely sea views from some of the seating and we enjoyed meeting friends for tapas there on our last visit to Felixstowe. It was also fun having a go on some of the new arcade games.

Sea Road Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk

A look at the Fantasia Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We swung by the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe while visiting the Suffolk seaside town on Monday.

It's one of our most visited courses and was originally the 7th we went to on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The course opened in 1997/98 and was one of the first adventure golf layouts to open in the UK.

The course is planned to close for good...

Sadly the Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk is set to be demolished.

The course will be closed and the site turned into residential properties after plans were approved for the work to go ahead.

It's a shame to see minigolf courses close down. Fantasia Adventure Golf has always been fun to play.

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe is closing

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk is going to be demolished.

The Sea Road Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe will be closed and the site turned into residential properties after plans were approved for the work to go ahead.

It's a shame to see minigolf courses close down. Fantasia Adventure Golf has always been fun to play.

Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk is getting a new indoor crazy golf course.

Street Golf is planned to open at Easter 2025.

The existing Magical Golf FX course at Manning's Amusements closes for the final time today, Sunday 24th November 2024, after 25 years!

We're looking forward to checking out the new Street Golf course when it opens.

Magical Golf FX in Felixstowe

A revisit to the Magical Golf FX course at Mannings Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We had a few games on the arcades at Mannings Amusements just before it closed for the evening after a visit to Beach Street on a recent return trip to the seaside town. The indoor crazy golf course is one of our most visited courses as we've spent so much time in Felixstowe over the years.

A revisit to the Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We swung by the Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe on a recent return trip to the seaside town. The 9-hole outdoor course is very likely our most visited course as we've spent so much time in Felixstowe over the years.

There have been plans for the course to be removed and replaced with houses, so it was nice to see it was still there.
