No Tee Party Crazy Golf for me at The Club House in Manchester

A visit to the Tee Party Crazy Golf at The Club House in Manchester.

I was recently in Manchester and headed along to the Spinningfields area of the city to check out the minigolf course that had been set up there.

Unfortunately the course had closed the day before so I couldn't play it.

Luckily the holes were still there so I had an interesting evening wander hunting out each of the holes that were spread out around the shopping and dining area.

The course became the 684th visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.

Luckily earlier this year the team at the course had sent through some of the scorecards from the course to enter the archives of the Crazy Golf Museum.

The Plumb Center and Parts Center stand was a Mini Golf hole!

I was recently at the CIH Housing Exhibition in Manchester and wouldn't you know it - there was a Mini Golf hole there!

Needless to say - I nailed my first shot

And won all this merch!

One of these is headed to Martin Vallance's MASSIVE collection of logo golf balls

Putting courses and obstacles are a popular gimmick at trade shows and exhibitions. Way back in May 2007 I played an UrbanCrazy minigolf hole at the International Direct Marketing Fair at Earl's Court.

Mr Mulligan's Lost World Adventure Golf in Stevenage

A visit to Mr Mulligan's latest Adventure Golf course.

You can't miss the entrance to the Lost World Golf!

Last year we heard about a new minigolf venue opening in Stevenage and Mr Mulligan's latest course - Lost World Golf - opened at Stevenage Leisure Park earlier this year.

Mr Mulligan's Lost World Golf gets the thumbs up from the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour

We've been itching to get along for a game and earlier this week we had a round on the two nautical themed courses. We loved it.

Our crew of adventure golfers in Stevenage

The courses became the 685th and 686th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, and were the 403rd and 404th played.

Our group hit the Jungle Explorers course for round one and followed this with a game on the Ocean Adventurers layout.

There is some excellent theming throughout the indoor Adventure Golf venue - not least the giant wooden submarine that sits in the middle of the two courses!

Local competitor Simon Hinton and the wooden submarine

What an obstacle/hole/feature!

The inside of the submarine contains a very very tough hole to play!

There's a real mix of obstacles and hole types and there's even a section of holes where you are plunged into blacklight - one of my favourite types of minigolf environments to play in.

As we're super competitive players we made sure we kept score and the results of our contest are below - it was very close indeed!

2nd (tied) - 'Squire' Richard Gottfried - 46

5th - Simon 'Practice' Hall - 52

Round 2 - Ocean Adventurers Championship

2nd - Emily 'Lemony' Gottfried - 51
3rd - Simon 'Local Athlete' Hinton - 52
4th - Cat 'Helter Skelter' Patterson - 56

The champ

Overall - Stevenage Invitational Tournament
1st - 'Squire' Richard Gottfried - 46 + 47 = 93
2nd - Simon 'Local Athlete' Hinton - 45 + 52 = 97
3rd (tied) - Cat 'Helter Skelter' Patterson - 46 + 56 = 102

Always nice to see a shark on a minigolf course. And a large mouthed sea monster

Aces Championship
1st (tied) - Cat Patterson - hole 4 (Jungle) and hole 9 (Ocean)
1st (tied) - Simon Hinton - hole 13 and 18 (Jungle)
3rd - Emily Gottfried - hole 7 (Jungle)

Another fine minigolf scorecard added to The Crazy Golf Museum archives

It was also nice to have a break between rounds with a drink at the bar. We also had a celebratory/consolation drink at the end of our second round.

Visit Mr Mulligan's website for opening times and prices, as well as details of his courses in Milton Keynes, Sidcup, Castleford, Nottingham and Woking. We've yet to visit the Nottingham course at Ramsdale Park Golf Centre.

Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf course in Southend

A revisit to a classic seaside Mini Golf course.

On our day trip to Southend on Sea we revisited the 18-hole Arnold Palmer Mini Golf course on the Esplanade.

The signage at the course has been updated

The course was originally the 16th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in March 2007. We've returned a number of times since then and it's always interesting to see the changes made to the course.

Emily in action

On our first visit the remnants of the West course could still be seen. It looks like this now.

There used to be another Arnold Palmer Putting course on this spot

The East course has been refurbished since our last visit and it plays very nicely indeed.

The rules

It's always nice to see a high quality scorecard

During our visit we played the Southend Arnold Palmer Classic competition where I picked up my second win of the day, with Chris Jones runner-up for a second time too. Gareth Holmes was third in the 12-player contest.

The competitors

Results of the Southend Arnold Palmer Classic competition 2016:
