Angry Birds Adventure Golf at intu Metrocentre in Gateshead

New Angry Birds Adventure Golf opening at the intu Metrocentre in Gateshead this Autumn.

While we were in Newcastle and Gateshead for the World Transplant Games we called in to the intu Metrocentre in Gateshead as it'll soon be home to the first of the new Angry Birds Adventure Golf courses.

Just a few months too early to play

The Angry Birds Adventure Golf centre in Gateshead will have 18-hole two courses.

The team at Rovio Entertainment, owners of the Angry Birds brand, are teaming up with Namco Funscape to create the new minigolf courses. Five locations are planned to open over the next three years.

We really enjoying our visit to the intu Metrocentre and are looking forward to returning to play the Angry Birds Adventure Golf

Tee-Rex Adventure Golf at Cardiff Golf Centre

A visit to the Tee-Rex Adventure Golf course at Cardiff Golf Centre.

On our trip to South Wales we made a visit to the Tee-Rex Adventure Golf course at Cardiff Golf Centre in Old St Mellons.

The 18-hole dinosaur-themed Adventure Golf course became the 916th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We enjoyed a round with our old friends and minigolf rivals Cindy and Jas Kukielka and our new friend and minigolf rival Martyn Williams.

The Tee Rex Golf course was built by the team at HM Adventure Golf in 2017 and we've been wanting to get along for a game for a while.

What's wrong with this picture?

We had a fun competition on the course and there were some very close scores on the tricky layout.

At the end of the round I came out the winner by one-shot on 40(+4). Martyn, captain of the Welsh Minigolf Club, and Emily both hit 41(+5) and required a play-off.

The sudden-death play-off began on hole 1. After nether player could be separated after three plays of the hole the play-off moved to hole 2 where Emily shot a three and Martyn hit a two for the win.

Jas finished the game in fourth place with a round of 45(+9), with Cindy in fifth spot on 48(+12).

Tee-Rex Adventure Golf at Cardiff Golf Centre will be the host venue for the Cardiff Open minigolf tournament on Saturday 5th October. For more information visit the Welsh Minigolf Club website.

Cathedral Crazy Golf in Rochester

There's a new Crazy Golf course at Rochester Cathedral in Kent.

Plans for the temporary Crazy Golf installation were announced earlier this year and the new course is now open to play.

The 9-hole Crazy Golf course is free to play and is a partnership between Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Bridge Trust. The layout has been supplied by HM Adventure Golf.

It's fair to say the pop-up Crazy Golf course's appearance in a religious setting has caused some controversy.

However, it's not the first time minigolf and cathedrals have mixed. Back in 2017 a complaint was made about a devil obstacle on a Crazy Golf course at the Winchester Hat Fair. That course was set-up in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral.

The Rochester Cathedral Crazy Golf course is from the same range as the course I recently played at The Palace Fun Centre in Rhyl.

You can play the Rochester Cathedral Crazy Golf course until the 1st September.

Adventure Golf at The Leys Recreation Ground in Witney

A visit to the Adventure Golf course at The Leys Recreation Ground in Witney, Oxfordshire.

Our trip to Southampton saw us visit 18 more courses, playing eight of them. One of the courses visited was the Adventure Golf course at The Leys Recreation Ground in Witney, Oxfordshire.

We hadn't expected to be visiting Witney, but as traffic meant our route changed we couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the course.

Unfortunately we didn't get to have a game on it as it had already closed for the day. Earlier than the sign said.

The Adventure Golf course at The Leys Recreation Ground in Witney was the 869th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

It looked like a nice layout.

The 9-hole course was designed and built by the team at HM Adventure Golf and opening in 2018.

Buccaneer Bay Adventure Golf in Littlehampton

On Sunday we met up with our friend and minigolf rival 'His Excellency' Anthony Pope for a game at the Buccaneer Bay Adventure Golf course at Norfolk Gardens in Littlehampton.

The course was the 381st played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in 2015 and I first visited it in 2012.

Since then the course has been given a refurbishment, with fresh felt, new borders and a new pirate theme.

The Buccaneer Bay Adventure Golf course is one of the largest miniature golf courses we've played and some of the holes are really long.

In our minigolf match-up on the 9-hole layout I managed to win with a score of 28. Anthony was runner-up on 32, while Emily took third place with a round of 34 having scored a 7 on the last hole.

Unfortunately we didn't have time for a ride on the miniature railway in Norfolk Gardens on this occasion.
