A beachy bench

Looking through our photo archives for a blog post about Felixstowe Pier I noticed this great snap of a bench that had been somewhat swamped by the beach.

Sea Road Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe

A visit to the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe.

It's something of a tradition that when we're in Felixstowe we have to visit the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road. Even when it's out of season.

Luckily we've played the course a lot over the years and we had a great match on the 9-hole layout in June.

The course was the 7th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in November 2006.

The volleyball net in Felixstowe

I've been visiting the seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk for many many years now and not once have I seen anyone using the volleyball net on the bit of grass on Sea Road.

And yet, there it hangs, year after year, peak season, out of season, come rain or shine. It's always just there.

Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe

We had a great visit to the nice 9-hole Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road in Felixstowe, Suffolk on Sunday.

Emily on hole 5 - Rocky Tube

Arriving at the course at half ten we were lucky enough to have the course to ourselves for what would be our umpteenth game on the layout.

Hole 9 - Home & Away

Emily teeing off on the 9th

Back on the 19th November 2006 the course became the 7th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

In our match-up I scored the win with a round of 22 compared to Emily's 26.

The Fantasia Adventure Golf course is well worth a visit and is nicely priced at £2.50 a round for adults. As we were leaving the course was starting to get busy so we'd timed it just right for a perfect start to a day out at the seaside.

Another fine addition to the Crazy Golf Museum. One of the old scorecards we have has a number in the 110,000's on it

Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk

Revisiting the Fantasia Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe.

Fantasia Adventure Golf course in Felixstowe

We were in Felixstowe, Suffolk last weekend and while we didn't manage to have a game of minigolf, we did have our customary look at the Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road.

The course was the 7th we ever played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. That was way back in November 2006. We've visited the seaside and the course loads of times since then, it's always worth a play.

Looking forward to a game there again in the future.

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe

A visit to the Fantasia Adventure Golf on Sea Road in Felixstowe.

On a recent visit to the seaside resort of Felixstowe, Suffolk we had a stroll along the prom and of course had a look at the 9-hole Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road.

Crazy Golf in Felixstowe

Revisiting the indoor minigolf course at Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe.

We played the indoor Adventure Golf course at Manning's on our last trip to Felixstowe in November 2014 and we always visit the arcade and course when in town.

On our most recent visit to Felixstowe we noticed the sign for Sands Diner has an arrow pointing out the 'Crazy Golf' at Mannings. There are two other minigolf signs at Mannings - one for 'Indoor Adventure Golf' and one for 'Magical Golf'

We were up and about nice and early on our Saturday morning seaside stroll and saw a sight we'd never seen before - the doors to the Golf-FX Magical Golf course were closed!

We didn't have time to play the course this time, but we'll be back again for a round on the tricky layout later this year.

Check out the links and blog posts below for more information on Manning's Amusements and photos of the course from our many visits over the years.

Amusement Arcading in Felixstowe and the one penny pence piece pusher

A potential venue and 'course' for a Tat Challenge tournament in the future.

While on a recent visit to the Suffolk seaside resort of Felixstowe we spotted a rare sight in one of the seafront's amusement arcades - a 1p pusher machine!

It's not often in this day and age that you see a one penny pusher in the arcade. They're normally 2p or 10p machines

New gluten free products at Marks & Spencer

More new gluten free products in the M&S 'Made Without Wheat' range.

While shopping in Ipswich and Felixstowe we noticed that Marks and Spencer has introduced some new products to the Made Without Wheat range of gluten free items.

We're looking forward to trying them all out!

M&S 'Made Without Wheat' range
M&S sell gluten free Pork Cocktail Sausages that are very tasty. They've now introduced them in packs of ten, rather than the large tubs of 30 (and more)

Chicken Chunks and Chicken Breast Fillets are now part of the Made Without Wheat Range at Marks and Spencer

There are now Salmon Fillet Fishcakes and Cod Fillet Fishcakes in the Made Without Wheat Range at M&S

A lot of the Party Food at M&S is marked as gluten free too - as fans of Pork Cracklings and Scratchings we really liked the look and sound of the Crunchy Crackling Straws!

Indoor Crazy Golf in Felixstowe

Playing the Indoor Magical Golf Adventure course at Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Over the years we've visited the seaside resort of Felixstowe a lot. It's so close to Ipswich that when we're there to visit family and friends we'll pretty much always make the short drive to the coast for a bit of a wander and a game of miniature golf.

The 5th course we ever played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was the indoor Golf FX course at Manning's Amusement Arcade on the sea front. The course was refurbished a few years ago and renamed 'Magical Golf'.

Playing hole 2 of the indoor Adventure Golf in Felixstowe

Having had a quick look around the Sunday market at Manning's we dashed into the arcade for a round on the 12-hole indoor Crazy Golf course (13-holes if you count the tricky lucky last hole) to escape the rain and have a fun competitive round.

Emily on hole 11 at Manning's - a very tough hole

Matching scores for the first six holes Emily took the lead on the 7th with a four to my five, but a five on the 9th let me back in the game and a disastrous six on the 12th hole with it's multitude of tunnels to aim your putt at meant that I picked up the win 39 to 41.

Walking to the town centre we also had a look at the outdoor 9-hole Fantasia Adventure Golf on Sea Road. Unfortunately (and luckily because of the weather) it was closed for the day. The course was the 7th played on our Tour.

A Crazy Golf 'ghost' course in Felixstowe

A revisit to Felixstowe, Suffolk.

While promenading in the East Anglian seaside resort of Felixstowe we always walk passed the once busy, but now derelict amusements and boating pond near to the leisure centre on Sea Road.

Back in 2006 the Crazy Golf that stood on the site was the 6th course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour!

However, in April 2010 the course was removed from the land and moved just up the road where it became the Ocean Boulevard Crazy Golf course - in its new layout it became the 166th course played.

Amazingly even after all this time - and the strong weather conditions the sea front at Felixstowe receives - the outline of the course still remains as a ghostly echo!

Glutamel Gluten Free Baguettes

Over the weekend we were in Felixstowe, Suffolk and had a look in the Co-Operative supermarket at the station and were pleased to see a number of gluten and wheat free foods that we hadn't seen before!

One of the products that looked good and was reasonably priced were the ready to bake baguettes that came in packs of three.

Glutamel Baguettes are gluten free, wheat free and dairy free. They taste great

We bought two packs and have enjoyed eating them with a variety of fillings. They taste great and have a very good texture and consistency. Well done Glutamel.

Looking on the Glutamel website there are a lot more items available from the brand. I look forward to hopefully finding more on sale near us in Luton, Bedfordshire and on our travels around the UK.

I'm also really pleased that the team at Glutamel have ensure the products are gluten AND wheat free (with no codex wheat starch) so I'll be able to eat the lot.

I'm looking forward to using some of the baguettes for garlic bread, another item that's not easy to get hold of as a Coeliac.

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe

Results of a minigolf match at Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe.

On Sunday 8th of June 2014 we headed to Felixstowe for a day out at the seaside and had lovely weather for it.

We met up with our friends Sophia and Karl Moles and their daughter Fiorella (who is a BIG minigolf fan) and visited the 9-hole Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road for an obligatory game!

I also needed to get revenge for my loss to 'Karlos The Jackal' in our only other minigolf contest, when we'd had a round on the course in May 2011!

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe
Fiorella Moles shows Richard, Karl and Sophia how to play the 5th hole at Felixstowe Adventure Golf

In that match-up, which also featured Annette Harper and Kallum Harper, Karl had won with a score of 28, to my round of 29. Annette shot a 33 to finish in third place, with Kallum in fourth on 42.

This time round I was able to gain a measure of revenge and level the series with a score of 23, while Karl hit a 29. Fiorella won the junior championship with a score of 40.

Richard plays a double rebound shot on hole 3 'Twister' and scores a 2

I can't believe our previous match in Felixstowe was so long ago! It certainly doesn't feel like it was more than three years ago.

The date for the next contest between Karl and I in our Best-of-TBD series of matches is also to be decided...

Indoor Adventure Golf at Mannings Amusements in Felixstowe

My friend, sometime Minigolfer, and fan of ludicrous photos Paul 'Flip Flops' O'Conner recently sent me some photos with the message "Spotted this mysterious crazy golf course at the back of an odd amusement arcade in Felixstowe."

The course is the Magical Golf at Mannings Amusements in the seaside town.

Thanks to Paul for sending the pics through. The indoor minigolf course is worth a visit if you're in Felixstowe.

Golf FX (as it was then known) was the fifth course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour way back in November 2006. Emily and I have visited and played the course on numerous occasions since.

A Round of Minigolf on Felixstowe's Fantasia Adventure Golf Course

Re-visiting the 7th course on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour at Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Fantasia Adventure Golf in Felixstowe, Suffolk

On the 20th of August Emily and I headed back to Felixstowe, Suffolk for a day out at the seaside.

Richard on hole 6 - Evil Eye

On what was a lovely sunny day we wandered past the 9-hole Fantasia Adventure Golf course on Sea Road and saw that the coast was clear for a nice 'relaxed' game of Minigolf.

Emily putting on hole 1 - The Puzzler

It's not often we're in Felixstowe in the summer, you're more likely to find us Putting away on the indoor Magical Golf course at Mannings Amusements just down the road, while it's raining/frosty/wintery outside.

Richard playing hole 2 - The Crab

The Fantasia Adventure Golf course was the 7th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour way back on the 26th of August 2007!

In our one-round contest Emily quickly took the lead and also managed to ace the 4th hole! It's a tricky course to score holes-in-one on so it was a pleasing shot to see.

Emily on hole 3 - Twister

Unfortunately Emily came unstuck on the 8th and was terribly unfortunate to score a dreaded seven.

Emily putts out on Evil Eye

The final score saw me win with a score of 22 to Emily's 28.

The Adventure Golf course is always worth a play and costs £2.50 for adults and £2.00 for children. It's in very good condition and has had some new tee-off spots put in place since our last visit.
