Indoor Mini Golf at the Lost World Adventure Park in Skegness

Visiting an abandoned theme park and derelict crazy golf in Skegness.

Visiting another abandoned minigolf course

On Sunday 10 May 2015 we visited the Lost World Adventure Park on North Parade in Skegness. Unfortunately it'd closed down. The Lost World had been home to an indoor Jungle 3D Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf course.

The course location was the 598th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Luckily there are many other miniature golf courses to play in Skegness.

Volcano Falls Adventure Golf at Xscape Yorkshire

Playing the Volcano Falls Adventure Golf at Xscape in Castleford.

Volcano Falls Adventure Golf at Xscape in Castleford, Yorkshire

On Sunday 12 April we were heading back from a short-break in York and Knaresborough and decided to swing into Castleford to play some minigolf.

Xscape Yorkshire is home to Volcano Falls Adventure Golf and its two 18-hole indoor minigolf courses.

The T Rex Trail became the 359th course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour and the 594th visited overall. The Volcano Valley course was the 595th visited.

In our match-up on the T Rex Trail I beat Emily with a score of 40 to 45.

It was great to see Volcano Falls merchandise on sale at the course. I treated myself to a branded cap

You can find the Volcano Falls course on a 'mysterious island' indoors at Xscape Yorkshire. Its just off Junction 32 of the M62.

In winning the match against Emily I also awarded myself a great Adventure Falls key ring

After 18-hole on the busy course we escaped unscathed

We're looking forward to returning to play the Volcano Valley course at Volcano Falls Adventure Golf in the future.

We'll be heading past Castleford on another road trip and pop in for a round then

Xscape Yorkshire is a great indoor entertainment centre with loads to see, do and play.

Playing Jurassic Mini Golf at the thecentre:mk

Playing a new Minigolf course in Milton Keynes.

On the 9th of June Emily and I visited and played the 318th course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The 12-hole Jurassic Golf course is located in Queen’s Court at thecentre:mk shopping centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

We first spotted the course would be open during the summer on a shopping trip to Milton Keynes in March.

The Jurassic Golf course opened on the 28th of March and will be at the centre:mk until the 22nd of September 2013 and is open seven days a week.

The course is an Eternit/MiniatureGolf style of course and had some very good dinosaur theming and looks very good.

Unfortunately the balls used on the course are soft foam balls and don’t really work on the Eternit style course as they are not heavy enough to play rebounds, hold their line or fend off even a mild breeze! I’d be very interested in giving the course a play using our specialist competition Minigolf balls on the course.

In our match-up I defeated Emily 32(+8) to 42(+18).

The course was nice and busy and is a real attraction in the middle of thecentre:mk. Check out the Jurassic Golf Mobile Golf Courses website for more info, opening times and prices.

The course was the 529th we've been to on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006!

Jurassic Golf course heading to Milton Keynes!

A new Jurassic Golf course is heading to thecentre:mk shopping centre for summer 2013!

Emily and I went shopping at thecentre:mk today and were NOT expecting to do, or see anything related to Minigolf. However, as is so often the case, my 'minigolf radar' spotted a sign (and dinosaur) advertising a coming attraction at the shopping mall!

From the 28th of March until the 22nd September Queens Court at thecentre:mk will be home to a Jurassic Golf Adventure Golf course!

We're looking forward to revisiting the shopping centre and giving the Minigolf course a play when it's set-up. Looking on thecentre:mk website it give further details about the course. It'll be a 12-hole Adventure Golf course with twelve dinosaurs and a range of other obstacles. For more information and price details check out the Jurassic Golf web page. The business behind the course also has its own website (and intro video).

Back in July 2011 we visited and played the 9-hole Crazy Golf course that was set-up at thecentre:mk for the summer season.

Milton Keynes is home to four permanent Miniature Golf courses. On our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour we've played two of them - the 9-hole Adventure Golf at Willen Lake and the 18-hole Adventure Golf course at Abbey Hill Golf Club. The two we haven't played (yet) are at Gulliver's Land theme park and Cosgrove Caravan Park.

A Minigolf Visit to Wonderland in Telford!

Minigolf Course #500 visited / #300 Played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

On our journey to the 2012 Oswestry Games we had the chance to visit the 500th course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour! Prior to our trip we had seen on the excellent Minigolf resource of MiniatureGolfer.com that the Wonderland Theme Park in Telford, Shropshire was home to a Pirate Crazy Golf course.

If it was open it would the 300th course played too!

The weather was rather ominous on the drive to Telford on Friday the 13th of July and the date did not help the feeling of dread that the course would not be there, or worse – be there, but not in a playable condition. This is the sort of thing that runs through your mind when you’ve visited and not played so many courses over the years!

When we arrived at Wonderland the weather was less than summery and it was tipping down with rain. We parked up, grabbed our umbrella and headed into the Theme Park to see if we could find the course. We started our search at the opposite side of the park and so took a wander through, passing a very big Giant on our way.

When we arrived at the Crazy Golf kiosk we asked to play the course, but were advised not to as the rainy weather had made the course very slippery. After explaining that we had played in far worse weather conditions and that we would be incredibly careful navigating the course we were handed our putters, minigolf balls and a very nice scorecard for the Treasure Island 9-hole Crazy Golf course!

The Pirate-themed layout is intriguing as it has a mixture of hole types and designs, with some of the holes made of wooden planks, others are concrete with metal rails and others are a more ‘traditional’ felt.

Hole 2 - made of wooden decking!

Even in the wet conditions the course was fun to play and very tricky in places. While neither Emily or I scored a hole-in-one (this time) we were close on a few attempts. The killer hole for me was the 4th (Smugglers Cove) which saw me score a dreaded 7!

In the end the result of our Irregular Mini Golf Tour match-up saw only one shot separate the two of us – with Emily the eventual winner with a score of 29, to my 30!

If you’re a fan of Crazy Golf and/or Fairytales then the Wonderland Theme Park is the place for you to visit. The Crazy Golf is great fun, the park and its attractions look great and are very well maintained and the staff working there are incredibly nice and friendly.

What has become our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour began on the 30th September 2006 when we visited another Treasure Island Adventure Golf course in Southsea. We also made a re-visit on the 30th September 2011!

On our many roadtrips and travels around the UK to play Minigolf we’ve been to a couple of other “Treasure Island’s” and quite a few Pirate-themed courses.

Dinosaur Safari Adventure Golf Course Played at the A1 Driving Range in Arkley, Hertfordshire

Another new Miniature Golf course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour!

Last month while on an On The Buses Event around Elstree & Borehamwood me, Emily and Brad Shepherd spotted the building of a new Adventure Golf course in Arkley, Hertfordshire. Today, a group of us headed there to have a game. It became the 262nd course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The course is an 18-hole 'Dinosaur Safari' Adventure Golf and features a variety of holes, with hills, ramps, plateaus, rocks and water hazards.

There are also a number of Dinosaurs around the course. None of them gave us any problems though.

To enter the course and meet the 'Live Dinosaurs' you have to enter through a Time Travel 'Device'!

A sound piece of advice on this sign!

To mark our visit we held a Minigolf Competition to crown the Arkley Dinosaur Safari Golf Classic Champion.

Four players teed-off in the event with me and Emily teaming up to take on my Minigolf (and BIG Golf) rival Jon 'El Pato' Angel and his partner Cheryl 'Shuffler' Joseph.

In the Individual Event I defeated Jon by one shot, scoring a 41(+5). Emily and Cheryl tied for third place with scores of 49(+13).

A new Minigolf course spotted in Hertfordshire!

A photo of the Dinosaur Adventure Golf course at the A1 Driving Range in Arkley and one of the 'inhabitants' on our visit in July 2011

Me, Emily and Brad spotted the building work on a new Adventure Golf course while we were on the On The Buses Event around Elstree & Borehamwood on Saturday 18th June!

The course is not open yet (obviously), but digging around online I found the promotion for it (and the surrounding golf range etc.) has started, and it looks like it is planned to open in early-July 2011.

Fingers crossed all goes well with the rest of the build, we look forward to giving it a go when it opens.

I managed to take one quick photo of the construction site as we were passing, as it's visible from the road.
