Eastbourne - Treasure Island & the Adventure Golf have Closed Down!

During our mini-minigolf and seaside roadtrip on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour on Sunday 15th May 2011 we stopped by Treasure Island in Eastbourne as we had previously played there in July 2008.

Sadly the course, and the theme/amusement park has closed down. Although it is for sale!

Update: I'm glad to hear that the course has reopened. Visit the Treasure Island Pirate Adventure Golf website for more information.

Eastbourne - Fort Fun Adventure Golf Course - Minigolf Course Played #222

After playing the Putting course in Princes Park, Eastbourne we headed over the road to play the 18-hole Adventure Golf course at Fort Fun!

The course became the 222nd course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

It's not the best example of an Adventure Golf course, but we had a fun and competitive Irregular Mini Golf Tour round, with me coming out the winner by five shots.

Some of the theming is good - especially the Crocodile/Alligator!

Interestingly, and happily for me, I also managed to win a free game on the Top Hole! This was the first I have won since the 150th course played in Southport in September 2009!!! It's also only the third free game I've won in all the courses I've played!? The first was won at the very first course visit in September 2006 in Portsmouth!

Eastbourne - Putting (Pitch & Putt) Course - Minigolf Course Played #221

The second seaside visited on Sunday 15th May 2011 was Eastbourne, and the first Minigolf course we headed to was at Princes Park. We'd heard there was a 9-hole Putting course there, but we found an 18-hole course that was more 'Pitch & Putt' than Putting! It became the 221st course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, and the first where me and Emily teamed up for a round - with me 'Pitching' and Emily 'Putting'!

The course had recently re-opened and we were some of the first players to give it a go this season. It's a quite testing set-up and could do with having more than three flags on the course!

It's worth giving a go if you're a fan of Pitch & Putt.

The first stop on the trip, that would eventually end in Worthing, rather than Bogner (b*gger), was at the great 18-hole Putting Course at West Marina Gardens in St Leonards, East Sussex. The course was the 220th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Minigolf Doubles Match - Great Britain Internationals vs. Kosovo National Minigolf Team

During the practice days for the inaugural WMF World Adventure Golf Masters tournament in Hastings I got to meet the Kosovan National Minigolf Team, comprised of Lavdim Zylfiu and Arben Alija, at the course. The tournament was the first International minigolf event for the players, and indeed Kosovo.

Over the two tournament days I was grouped with Arben, who scored a very impressive and course record breaking round of 27(-9) in his fourth round of the tournament.

However, prior to the tournament proper teeing-off, me and fellow Great Britain International Minigolfer Alan 'Stormin' Norman challenged the Kosovan Duo to an 18-hole Doubles Strokeplay International Friendly on the new Pirate Adventure Golf Course. The challenge was accepted.

In our third match as a Doubles Team, Alan and I managed to score 73(+1) as a pair, with Alan storming to an impressive 32(-4), while I was obviously holding back my best play until the tourrnament itself, as I scored a sorry 41(+5). Lavdim and Arben both scored 38(+2) for a team total of 76(+4) to just miss out on the win.

I'm looking forward to a minigolf rematch with them in the future!

The "£2 Tat Challenge" amusements contest was created by Scott ‘Donkey Gringo’ Lancley (the International Worlds Crazy Air Squash Champion) and Emily ‘Coach’ Gottfried, with the very first edition of the event taking place in October 2010 during the World Crazy Golf Championships weekend in Hastings.

A "£2 Tat Challenge" Order of Merit is being formulated! Suggestions on its calculation welcome...?
