Captain's Bay Adventure Golf course in Barnet, London

There's a new Adventure Golf course under construction in London!

We've heard there's a brand new 9-hole miniature golf course being built at the Metro Golf Centre in Barnet, London.

The new course should be open in April this year. Check out the Captain's Bay Adventure Golf Facebook page for photos of the new build and designs of the layout. They've got a great looking logo too. I do like seeing minigolf sharks!

It's always great to hear about new courses opening and there have been quite a few new Crazy Golf, Mini Golf and Adventure Golf courses opening in London in recent years.

We visited the Metro Golf Centre in April 2010 when the minigolf course that was there became the 170th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. We remember it being a very good and unique course.

It's planned that the new Adventure Golf course will be open in time for Easter this year. Visit the links below for more info.

Getting sharked

While we were in Nottingham for the Midlands Invitational Minigolf Tournament we made sure to go along to The Beach in the city centre after a tip-off from our friend and rival Jam Trubridge. It was well worth a visit. As well as picking up some great postcards and an interesting amusements token for my collections I also got up close to a BIG shark!

Check out the Nottingham Beach website for more info.

On our travels to over 650 courses we've spotted a lot of minigolf sharks too!

The 18-hole Mini Golf layout was the fourth played on our tour of the South West of England, the 15th visited on the trip, and the 367th played overall on our tour.

Mini Golf Sharks

Catching sight of some Crazy Golf Sharks on our minigolfing travels.

The first 'actual' shark obstacle we found on a minigolf course was at Pendine Bay in Wales on a mammoth road trip in 2009.

Preceding our trip to Pendine Bay we'd visited and played the excellent Strokes Adventure Golf course in Margate. The 16th hole there is called 'Shark's Teeth'.

We often visit Felixstowe in Suffolk and a recent addition to the indoor Adventure Golf course at Manning's Amusement Arcade is a shark!

I've been to Littlehampton twice. On the second occasion I managed to play the Sharksville Adventure Golf course.

The 231st course we played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was the 'Sea Dwellers Crazy Golf' at the Golden Palm Resort in Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire. However, none of the holes had a shark on it.

We spotted this shark bin in a seafood shop in Whitstable!

Shelley at Putterfingers also spotted a shark obstacle on a miniature golf course - it was on a Disney TV show called Shake It Up!

On our travels we've seen a lot of crocodiles and alligators lurking on courses too.

If you see any sharks on a minigolf course do let me know!

Pirate Mini Golf at the Galleria Shopping Centre in Hatfield

Visiting the Pirate Adventure Golf course at the Galleria in Hatfield.

On Tuesday 19 May I headed over to Hatfield, Hertfordshire to meet up with my old mate and Dodgeball rival 'Rowdy' Russell Fenner for a game of minigolf on the Pirate Adventure Golf course at the Galleria Outlet Shopping Centre.

Unfortunately the course was closed. We'd planned to have a round after work at 6pm, but the course was closed from 5.30pm.

It had been open when I first arrived. While the Galleria is open from 10am to 8pm on weekdays, the Pirate Adventure Golf course is only open 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. Looking on the website it does state that the last entry is 30 minutes before closing.

The result of our contest was put down as a no-score draw.

The course was the 599th visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since September 2006.

In June 2014 we played a similar layout from the same group when the course was 12-holes.

Sharksville Adventure Golf at Harbour Park Littlehampton

Playing the Sharksville Fantasy Golf course in Littlehampton's Harbour Park.

A view of the Sharksville Adventure Golf at Littlehampton's Harbour Park

On Friday 11th of April 2014 Emily and I visited Harbour Park in Littlehampton, West Sussex to play the 9-hole Sharksville Adventure Golf course.

At Sharkville Adventure Golf in Littlehampton

I visited Littlehampton in April 2012 and I managed to NOT play any of the courses in the town as it was out of season and the evening! Luckily on this occasion our visit co-incided with the Easter break which meant the courses along the seafront were open.

The course became the 334th course played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour since 2006. As I'd previously visited the course, the number we've been to remains at 554.

The course is a tricky adventure golf layout and has some nice theming - my favourite bit was the BIG caught shark near to hole 7 that you have to pass on your way out.

The one that didn't get away

In our Minigolf Match Emily beat me by four-shots with a 25 to 29 scoreline.

The course costs 5 tokens to play (with each token 50p on our visit). A reasonable price to pay for a 9-hole course. Check out the Harbour Park website for details of prices, tickets and tokens.

The course was the first miniature golf called 'Fantasy Golf' on our travels - another name to add to our blog post on Types and Variants of Miniature Golf visited and played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour!

The 129th course we played on our tour was at Pendine Sands in Wales, that course had a big shark's head as an obstacle!
