Mini Golf at Queens Park in Crewe

A visit to the Mini Golf course at Queens Park in Crewe.

Mini Golf course at Queens Park in Crewe

On Saturday 25th May we headed down the road for a day out in Crewe. When we decided to visit Crewe we hadn't expected to go to any minigolf courses, but Emily had spotted the Mini Golf course at Queens Park in Crewe and then I found out about the Crazy Golf course at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Sandbach in a follow-up search.

The Mini Golf course at Queens Park in Crewe became the 890th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We've seen similar courses on our travels. Four years ago today we played a course like it at The Imperial Hotel in Torquay and on Saturday we played a layout at Greenlands Farm Village in Carnforth that had a resemblance to it.

The course at the Pier Head in Liverpool and at the Lake District Visitor Centre in Brockhole, Cumbria looked quite similar to the Queens Park layout

Queens Park in Crewe is also home to a number of other activities and was a nice place for a wander. We also spotted a Petanque Terrain there.

It's always nice to see a place to play Boules

We've now visited 895 courses on our travels since September 2006.

Crazy Golf at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Sandbach

Playing the Crazy Golf course at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Betchton, Sandbach, Cheshire.

Crazy Golf at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Sandbach

Last weekend we visited three miniature golf courses, the first of which was the 9-hole Swedish Felt Crazy Golf course at Malkins Bank Golf Club in Betchton, Sandbach.

The course became the 518th course played and 888th visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

In our minigolf match-up Emily took the win with a score of 21 to my 22.

We enjoyed playing the course, and while it could've done with a bit of a sweep (much of the course is underneath some trees), we couldn't grumble as it was FREE to play!

It'd be nice to spend a bit more time playing the course as there were definitely some hole-in-one opportunities on the layout.

It was interesting to see the course as it was a mixture of the Swedish Felt format of miniature golf with fibreglass Crazy Golf obstacles.

There was also a nice looking Putting Green at Malkins Bank Golf Club, but we didn't have time for a go on it. The green closest to the Crazy Golf course looked great too.

-----------------------------------------------

When our travels began in September 2006 there were around 600 miniature golf courses in the UK. We've now reached 890 course visits, including 39 overseas.

Do you know of any new courses opening up in your area?

Do you know of an existing or old course that we haven't yet visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour?

Are you planning to open a course?

Then do get in touch and let us know. We'd love to visit and play the course, or advise on your plans.

Malt Disley!

Malt Disley - a Micro Bar and Bottle Shop in Disley, Cheshire East.

A few months ago we drove through Disley and spotted this brilliant bar/shop name. Yesterday I returned to get a snap of it.

Conservation Golf at Chester Zoo

Finding out about the Adventure Golf course at Chester Zoo.

On his recent trip to the UK our friend and minigolf rival John Mittler visited Chester Zoo and while there discovered an Adventure Golf course!

Unfortunately it was closed and isn't open again until the Spring.

We haven't made it to Chester Zoo yet, we're hoping to visit in the summer. The Conservation Golf course wasn't on our Crazy World of Minigolf 'to visit' list, so it's another one to add to our future travels.

Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf course at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm.

Emily's friend, colleague and minigolf rival Darren Howe has come up trumps again as he gave us a scorecard from the Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf course at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm from his recent visit.

Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf is one of our new local courses but we haven't had time to visit The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm since we moved to Stockport last summer.

Darren tells us the course was incredibly busy on his visit. That's a good sign.

The Strawberry Falls Adventure Golf course looks great - with some oversized ice cream-related obstacles and theming.

Check out The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm's website for more information, opening times and prices.

Darren recently played the Adventure Golf course at Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest. Check out the post from his visit for more photos.

Playing the Coral Cove course at Paradise Island Adventure Golf.

On Saturday 22nd July we swung by the Paradise Island Adventure Golf centre at Cheshire Oaks for a game on the Coral Cove minigolf course.

This was a horror of a hole to play

In our match-up I picked up the win with a score of 43 to Emily's 46. Neither score was enough to trouble the leaderboard for the PIAG Open competition which was running during our visit. Emily did manage to win a free game on the Lucky Last Hole though.

My favourite part of the course was the 'bottomless pit'!

We'll be back to play the Lazy Lagoon course in the future.
