Piers visited on our Lincolnshire & Norfolk Seaside Tour

On our seaside and minigolf road trip along the Lincolnshire and Norfolk coast we managed to visit two 'new' Piers - at Cleethorpes & Skegness - and also visit the amusement arcade in what remains of Hunstanton Pier.

Looking at the Coast Magazine 'Pier Prom Tick List', of the 51 surviving Piers in the UK, we've now visited 34 of them on our travels since 2006! We have also visited five other closed Piers (or their remains) - Hastings, Brighton West, Colwyn Bay, New Brighton & Hunstanton.

Laser Quest on Skegness Pier, but not in Cleethorpes

While away on our Seaside and Minigolf Roadtrip to Lincolnshire, we visited two Laser Tag game centres, and managed to play one of them.

In Cleethorpes we were unable to play as the game requires at least four players for it to be finacially viable for the Amusement Arcade to run. The Labyrinths of Doralia at Fairworld does sound intriguing though! We will be back, and in greater numbers...

We had better luck on Skegness where, after a great big Steak Dinner (at Steak n Stuff), Emily and I went for a one-on-one Laser Tag Battle at the Laser Quest on Skegness Pier!

I won :-) Emily scored 117, and I scored 287. Our 'colour' was MIXED rather than the standard RED or GREEN!

Our latest Seaside, Minigolf, Pier and Amusements Roadtrip - Lincolnshire & a bit of Norfolk

Our latest Seaside, Minigolf, Pier and Amusements Roadtrip took us to Lincolnshire and a little bit of Norfolk.

Over five days we visited seven seasides, visited 34 minigolf and crazy golf courses, went to countless Amusement Arcades and visited a few Piers too.

Great fun indeed, and details, photos and videos to follow over the coming weeks!

Minigolf on Clacton Pier - Crazy World of Minigolf Tour - Course Played #217

Playing minigolf on a pier!

On Sunday 8th May 2011 we headed to Clacton-on-Sea for a revisit to the seaside resort, and also to play the new Adventure Golf course on the Pier!

The course became the 217th we've played to date on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour!

In our Irregular Mini Golf Tour Match-up in Clacton, I just managed to defeat Emily 48-50, with a two on the 17th and final hole!

Clacton-on-Sea was nicer than on our trip there in 2009. A lot of the area seemed to have been given a spruce-up and there were a number of new amusements there. It's well worth a visit.

We've only ever seen one other Minigolf course on a Pier, although that one - in Southsea, Hampshire - was unplayable as there was nowhere to pay to play it!?

Brighton Pier used to have a Crazy Golf course on it too, the sign was still there in July 2008 but the course had been replaced by a Coconut Shy!

Correction (09/01/12) - Sandown Pier on the Isle of Wight also has a Miniature Golf course on it! We actually played there on the 26th July 2008! The setting of it (an indoor 'Lost World' theme) obviously made us forget we were playing above the waves!

Herne Bay Revisit - Minigolf and the Pier

On Sunday 10th April 2011 we revisited Herne Bay and had a look at the Crazy Golf / Minigolf / Adventure Golf course and Pier.

The Minigolf was a lot busier than when we played there in November 2008 (course played number 78).

The Pier is very interesting in that the end of it still exists, despite the middle section burning down in the 1970's and then collapsing into the sea!

New Brighton's 'Pier'

While in New Brighton, Wirral on Saturday 19th March 2011 we noticed there used to be a Pier there.

Coast Magazine is currently running a campaign that is encouraging people to walk as many of Britain's Piers as possible so they can raise funds to help restore the Grade II-listed pier in Hastings - which was almost all destroyed by fire in October 2010. On our last look at the Coast Magazine 'Pier Prom Tick List', of the 51 surviving Piers in the UK, we had visited 32 of them on our travels around the UK and the Coast! More details of our Piers-Visited-List.

Piers we've visited and a new Coast Magazine 'Pier Campaign'

The excellent Coast Magazine has a new campaign that is encouraging people to walk as many of Britain's piers as possible so they can raise funds to help restore the Grade II-listed pier in Hastings - which was almost all destroyed by fire in October 2010. A terrible shame indeed. More information about the community-led campaign by the Hastings Pier and White Rock Trust can be found on the HPWRT website.

Looking at the Coast Magazine 'Pier Prom Tick List', of the 51 surviving Piers in the UK, we've visited 32 of them on our travels! We hadn't realised we'd visited quite so many since we made a resolution to visit as many different seasides all over the UK back in 2006.

Here's the Coast Magazine Pier Prom Tick List, along with a note on those that Emily and I have been to:
