Herne Bay Mini Golf
A look at the Mini Golf course on the seafront in Herne Bay, Kent.
| Herne Bay Mini Golf |
We revisited the 78th course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour last month.
| Mini Golf Rules |
It doesn't seem like we first swung by it in 2008! Time certainly flies.
Visit the iFun Family Entertainment Centre website for more info on the Herne Bay Mini Golf course.
I've been documenting coronavirus signs during the pandemic and it was interesting to see some social distancing signs at the Herne Bay course.

A postcard from the Railway Convalescent Home in Herne Bay
A look at an old miniature golf postcard from from the Railway Convalescent Home in Herne Bay, Kent.
One of the nice old minigolf postcards I bought at the last postcard fair I attended was this one by Photochrom Co. Ltd. showing the Railway Convalescent Home in Herne Bay, Kent.
It's postally unused and undated.
The Railway Convalescent Home in Herne Bay was the first of ten homes opened by the railway industry for railwayworkers to recover from sickness and illness.

Eternit Miniature Golf in Herne Bay
An old postcard from Herne Bay reveals a miniature golf course.
While at the York International Postcard Expo we found a bumper crop of postcards showing minigolf, crazy golf and putting courses from around the UK, and one from South Africa.
A postcard from the seaside resort of Herne Bay in Kent was an exciting and interesting find as it showed the town was once home to an 'Eternit' style of Miniature Golf course. A lovely piece of minigolf history.
It's often thought that these 'European standard' Miniature Golf courses, often known as 'Eternit', don't exist in this country. While many have become derelict over time there are examples still standing, though they have often been amended, with a variety of new obstacles added to the 'lanes'. I've got a few other examples in my postcard collection.
Herne Bay is still home to a Mini Golf course - it was the 78th course we played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in November 2008.

As the pier suffered fire damage in 1970 the card is from the 1960's. It was produced by Colourmaster International Photo Precision Limited, St Ives, Huntingdon |

Visits to the Mini Golf course in Herne Bay
My brother and Minigolf rival Christopher Gottfried found himself in the lovely little seaside resort of Herne Bay, Kent yesterday evening. Unfortunately he was too late to play the great Minigolf course on the seafront.

Herne Bay Revisit - Minigolf and the Pier
On Sunday 10th April 2011 we revisited Herne Bay and had a look at the Crazy Golf / Minigolf / Adventure Golf course and Pier.
The Minigolf was a lot busier than when we played there in November 2008 (course played number 78).

The Pier is very interesting in that the end of it still exists, despite the middle section burning down in the 1970's and then collapsing into the sea!

Minigolf Course Visit No. 78 - Herne Bay
A visit to the 18-hole sea front minigolf course in Herne Bay.
On our way to play in the season-closing 2008 BMGA Kent Open in Margate Emily and I made a few seaside stops at Whitstable, Herne Bay, Westgate-on-Sea and Ramsgate.
Ahead of our road trip I had heard a whisper that Herne Bay was home to a new Minigolf course and upon our arrival the rumour was found to be true, as there is an 18-Hole Mini Golf course on the sea front.
Deciding the time was right to host an irregular minigolf event our Irregular Mini Golf Tour Herne Bay Classic was staged. Emily shot a 44 (+8) and I scored 40 (+4) to take the win.
