Crazy Golf on Grass at Marine Gardens in Worthing

Our friend and fellow minigolf aficionado Trevor 'Lord of Smeeth' Robertson recently sent us some photos of a new Crazy Golf course that has appeared at Marine Gardens in Worthing, West Sussex!

Crazy Golfing on grass in Worthing!

The Findon resident was on a trip to sunny Worthing and said that the new Miniature Golf course - combining Crazy Golf-style obstacles with a grass Putting surface - was located adjacent to the 18-hole Putting Green. That course became an unplayed one on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in 2010 as we arrived just after it had closed for the day.

What a great obstacle this'd be at Halloween!

Trevor is always keen to play a round of minigolf, but found that the new course is for children only. He did find out that rather than a golf ball players use a tennis ball!

Seeing the photos reminded us of the Crazy Golf on grass course that used to be in Cliftonville near Margate, Kent.

Worthing is also home to an 18-hole Mini Golf course at the town's Denton Gardens. Well worth a visit and a game or two.

North Marine Crazy Golf in Bridlington

Playing minigolf at the North Marine Putting Greens in Bridlington.

Last summer we finally made it to the seaside town of Bridlington. It'd been on our 'to visit' for quite some time.

Unfortunately we only had a couple of hours there so couldn't fully explore - but we did visit the minigolf courses there. And played two of them.

The first we played was at the North Marine Putting Greens, where you can find two grass Putting courses along with a very interesting Crazy Golf course. It's a mixture of holes - with some of them of the Swedish Felt variety, and others are Fibreglass. There are also some unique obstacles dotted around the course.

The Rules

The Crazy Golf course at the North Marine Putting Greens became the 383rd course played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour and the 663th visited since September 2006.

It was also the first course we've been to that's got a Frankenstein's Monster on it

The course is 15-holes(!?) and in our contest Emily beat me 36 to 41.

Happily we both managed to get a hole-in-one. Well, Emily got three in a row on the final holes!

The pair of Putting Greens looked nice too. We'll definitely give them a play when we're back in Bridlington.

While in Bridlington we also played the Treasure Island Adventure Golf course and had a look at the Crazy Golf course on the Foreshore Sands.

We're really looking forward to a return visit to Bridlington later this year as there's plenty to see and do there.

Putting Green in Arundel, West Sussex

My friend, minigolf rival and co-owner of Splash Point Mini Golf Anthony 'His Excellency' Pope recently sent me some photos of a very nice looking Putting Course in Arundel, West Sussex.

The grass miniature golf course on Mill Road looks like a cracker. I'm looking forward to a game there in the future.

Putting at Looe Bowling Club in Cornwall

Playing the Putting Greens at Looe Bowling Club.

Another marvellous putting green visited and played on our tour

While holidaying in Cornwall last year we made a surprise discovery of two grass Putting Greens at Looe Bowling Club at the very end of Marine Drive.

It was nice to spot the town centre sign for the Putting Green

Putting at the top of the lower course. The island in the background is known as Looe Island aka St George's Island aka St Michael's Island!

The pair of grass putting courses were the 29th and 30th visited on our tour of the South West of England and the 628th and 629th visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Follow the signs to the end of Marine Drive and you'll arrive at Looe Bowling Club and the two excellent putting courses

The Putting Greens at Looe Bowling Club are open from April to October

It was brilliant to find the courses and they were fun to play. They became the 371st and 372nd we've played since 2006.

What a course and what a view

A looooooong putt. Note the petanque piste behind Emily

The windy layout is great fun

They were certainly a unique couple of layouts, with plenty of twists & turns, dips & hills. And to top it off there was a magnificent view from the course.

Down on the lower course

Hole 3 on the lower layout

There's a wooden board/fence on the corner of the dog-leg third hole - something we've never seen on a grass putting course before

A view of the lower course

In our match on the upper course on the 6th June 2015 Emily scored 49, while I scored 48 to take the win. On the lower course I shot a 56, with Emily hitting a 61.

Nine years of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour

Today marks nine years since the start of our crazy golfing travels!

Photo of the Treasure Island Adventure Golf course on Long Curtain Road in Southsea

Back on the 30th September 2006 we visited my brother Christopher down in Southsea, Hampshire and while there had a game on the Treasure Island Adventure Golf course on Long Curtain Road near Clarence Pier. On the lucky last hole I managed to 'fire the cannon' and won a free game. The rest is history!

The Free Game Pass that set the ball rolling!

Since that first course visit we've visited a grand total of 671 courses around the world. Of these we've played 389, while 282 of them have been unplayable for a variety of reasons.

Who knows why so many courses around the country fall into disrepair!?

Earlier this year we hit some BIG minigolf landmarks on our tour, with visits to the 600th and 650th courses in overall and in the UK while on holiday in the South West of England.

This summer I also revisited Southsea for Christopher's Stag Do and managed to squeeze in a round on the Victory Trail Adventure Golf course at Treasure Island - and I once again hit the top hole to win a free game!

As well as some tricky holes

We estimate there are around 50 more courses we're yet to visit in the UK. Although when we began there were around 600 courses!

Check out the photos and links below from some of our landmark course visits.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped us out with tips of where to play over the last nine years. It's much appreciated.

I wonder where we'll have traveled to by this time next year!

How many more scorecards and free game passes will we have added to our collection too?
