Crazy Golf at Mead Open Farm in Billington, Bedfordshire

Playing Crazy Golf on a visit to Mead Open Farm.

Crazy Golf at Mead Open Farm in Billington, Bedfordshire

On Saturday 18th October we headed to Mead Open Farm for a morning of fun on the farm. And some Crazy Golf!

The course was the 350th we've played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour and the 584th visited overall.

The 9-hole course at Mead Open Farm was the last of the 'local' courses for us to play in Bedfordshire and it was worth the wait. We first heard about the farm about thirteen years ago when there was a very catchy local radio advert for it. We were singing it to ourselves on the drive there!

Play of the Crazy Golf course is included in the entry price and you can have as many goes as you like! Check out photos of the 'Swedish Felt B-run' style of miniature golf course below.

As the 18 October was the first-day of the farm's special Halloween Freaky Fortnight there were ghoulish fun activities too.

On the 18 October last year I played at the Putt in the Park Minigolf course in Wandsworth, London, and in 2012 I played the Woolly Golf course in Covent Garden.

Living in Parts Unknown

Who's nabbed the 'Welcome to Luton' sign?

While walking down the Dunstable Road heading back into Luton this evening I noticed that the 'Welcome to Luton' bit of the Town Limits sign was missing!?

Where's the bit of the sign that says 'Welcome to Luton' gone?

I really do now live in Parts Unknown!

‘Mini golf’ at the Paralympic Flame Festival hosted by The Disability Resource Centre in Dunstable

This weekend has seen the Paralympic Flame travel around Bedfordshire before it is joined with others at Stoke Mandeville to create the London 2012 Paralympic Flame. On Sunday 27th August 2012 a Paralympic Flame Festival was held at The Disability Resource Centre in Dunstable.

Emily and I went along to have a look at the Flame and see what else was going on at the event. There were stalls and games at the Flame Festival and I’d heard that there would be a chance to have a look around the centre and find out about Paralympic Sports. Emily and I had a go at Boccia (a game like Boules/Petanque) which I won :-) We’ve managed to get tickets to see Boccia at the Paralympics and are really looking forward to it.

While queuing to see the Paralympic Flame we spotted on the venue map produced for the event that the Dunstable & District Disabled Sports group would have a ‘Mini golf’ activity!

It was a Pitching/Chipping game, using a good little teeing-up machine. I managed to hit a ‘hole-in-one’ on my fifth and final go!

It was a great event and a nice warm-up for the London 2012 Paralympic Games!

Minigolf and Crazy Golf on the Isle of Wight and a visit to Isle of Wight Lane in Bedfordshire

Back on the 26th of July 2008 we headed to the Isle of Wight to play as many of the island's Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses in one day. We managed to play six in total, skipping one additional Putting Course in Shanklin, and running out of time in Ryde before the Hovercraft departed.

The Competitors line-up at Shanklin's Beton Crazy Golf Course

Today Emily and I visited the Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire, where there is an Isle of Wight Lane!

I couldn't find any history on Bedfordshire's Isle of Wight connections, so if anyone out there knows how this lane/road got its name please do get in touch?

Another not so Wacky Waving Arm-Flailing Inflatable Tube-man in Dunstable

Over the road from the not so Wacky Waving Arm-Flailing Inflatable Tube-man advertising a Car Wash in Dunstable there is now another not so Wacky Waving Arm-Flailing Inflatable Tube-man advertising an ATS Euromaster Car Brake Centre! This one is different, but the old one that was over the road has gone.

More posts about Wacky Waving Arm-Flailing Inflatable Tube-men on the Ham & Egger Files!

The technical name for Wacky Waving Arm-Flailing Inflatable Tube-men is "Airdancer".

I've also seen you can buy a Game called Pumpaloons! It looks to be a home-based contest version of Airdancers!!!
