Shooting Shacks in Southsea

I found two new Seaside Shooting Shacks while we were in Southsea on Wednesday.

This one was very old-style.

This one was a new-style, but had a 'Zeke' character!

45 minutes on Barry Island

Having previously spent '10 minutes in Canvey Island' in 2008 we found ourselves visiting Barry Island in Wales for a quick 45 minutes of amusements and seaside attractions*.

Having previously played the Pirate Adventure Golf course on our Tour of Wales in August 2009 we instead visited 'The Buttons' and also found a crazy shooting gallery.

Links to other shooting shack adventures on our seaside tour here and here.

* We were only able to spend 45 minutes there as the Parking machine charged £1 for an hour, or £4 for anything over an hour!?

Old Zeke's Shooting Shack at Wroxham Barns

During a break in play at the BMGA British Minigolf Championships at Wroxham Barns in Norfolk, me, Steve Gow and Brad Shepherd decided to compete in an Old Zeke's Shooting Shack Shoot-out!

I picked up the win, with a score of 180!

Shooting Shack in Aberdeen - Tin Can Alley

After the Scottish Open minigolf tournament we headed to the rest of the Amusements at Codonas Aberdeen Beach. One of which was the old seaside favourite - a Shooting Shack!

Sadly there wasn't an Old Zeke-style wild-west one, instead it was a 'rat-infested' Tin Can Alley!

Luton gets a seaside Shooting Shack!

On my travels playing in minigolf and crazy golf tournaments, and at the many seaside resorts we visit throughout the year, I am always on the look-out for that good old staple of the British Amusement Arcade Industry - the Shooting Shack.

So imagine my surprise while tenpin bowling at Namco Station in Luton yesterday when I spotted the games area now included a 'Doc's Interactive Shootout'!

While not my favourite type of Shooting Gallery Game, it wasn't too bad, and it did pay out 49 tickets for my efforts.

The links below have details of some of the other Shooting Shacks I have found on my travels:

The Pirate Flyer - Laser game monorail at Coral Island in Blackpool

While competing in minigolf tournaments around the country, and visiting Mini and Crazy Golf courses on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour, I do enjoy passing the time in Amusement Arcades playing games such as Hillbilly Shooting Shacks, Bowlingo, Arms Champs, the penny falls, and Crazy Air Squash.

However, of all these games the best 'Amusement Arcade Sport' I have found to date is The Pirate Flyer - a Laser game monorail ride at Coral Island in Blackpool!

It's great fun!

Shooting Shacks – Hayling Island

After a fruitless search in Portsmouth, Southsea, Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde on the Isle of Wight two Shooting Shacks were found in Hayling Island’s Funland.

They were:

The Hillbilly Shooting Gallery

And The Spooky Shoot (which seems to be a Japanese Import!)
