Emily was recently in Düsseldorf, Germany and took these snaps of the Schär gluten free products available there. They are certainly different to the products available in the UK.

Schar gluten free goodies from Spain

Finding some different Schär gluten free products in Spain.

Emily was recently in Spain and picked up some Schär gluten free treats for me at the El Corte Inglés supermarket.

I was particularly interested in the Choco Butterkeks! They were one of my favourite types of biscuit before I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2008

Luckily Emily got me two boxes

The last time Emily was in Spain I got this load of 'Sin Gluten' treats.

Schär gluten free

There are many funny things about being a Coeliac, not least being called a 'Celery', 'Celeriac' or even a 'Solero'.

When I checked my post this morning I didn't expect to be given a new first name on a mailer from Schär Gluten Free!?

I'm used to having a wide range of spellings for my surname - but 'Richard' is normally straightforward

I know I'm good at making up Italian sounding words for foodstuffs, but 'Riamo' takes the biscuit.

Schär used to be known as DS Gluten Free and I've been buying their products since I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2008. At the recent Beds & Mid Herts Coeliac Group Food Fair I added my name to the Schar UK mailing list - my handwriting must've been terrible.

Find out more about Schar UK's products on their website. I'm a big fan of their Chocolate Fingers - I find it impossible to not eat a whole box at a time!

Note:
- According to a quick search on the internet 'riamo' is a "first-person singular present indicative of 'riamare'". Riamare means 'to return the love of another' or 'to love again'.

Sin Gluten

Receiving lots of gluten free products from sunny Spain.

Emily recently returned from a holiday to Logroño, Spain and brought me back a LOT of gluten free products!

Living on a strict gluten free diet can get a bit boring, so we're always looking for new and interesting products to try. This haul was great.

The gluten free Palmeras con chocolate by airos are delicious and a real treat. I've never seen a gluten free product like them in the UK. Emily found these in a Carrefour

I'm a big fan of Cheetos and they are one of the first things I buy when I'm in the US. They used to sell Cheetos in the UK and I've found that the Jalapeno Cheese flavour ones are Gluten Free and available in some Tesco stores. I've surprised myself by not immediately scoffing these Cheetos Pelotazos! These snacks were from a sweet shops in Logroño

These dark chocolate biscuits from Bicentury look interesting - what grain is that on the box?

While shopping in a Carrefour store Emily also saw a number of other gluten free products that she couldn't get as she'd run out of space in her luggage. It's great to know that if I ever travel to Spain there are lots of gluten free options.

Emily tells me that the gluten free products in Carrefour were all on a separate wall section in the centre of the store. None were next to any gluten-containing products and were all clearly labelled and priced.
