Junkyard Golf in London

A visit to play the four Crazy Golf courses at Junkyard Golf on Brick Lane in London.

On my recent trip to London I got to play the four very crazy minigolf courses at Junkyard Golf on Brick Lane.

Junkyard Golf in London
All the fun of the fear!

Each of the 9-hole courses has a quirky theme from films to music to the circus and it all adds up to a ludicrous miniature golf experience as you putt your way through, down and over all manner of different obstacles.

I had a merry go round the four courses at Junkyard Golf

Having played the current Junkyard Golf course in Manchester I'd seen some similar holes and obstacles, but others were unique to the London venue.

I like the spotlighting of the cups on the course

Playing into and through some bits of old cars!

Another gory construction on the circus and fairground themed course

Even though the courses have been built out of scrap and other reclaimed materials the holes are playable - although from some of the tee-off angles I can't help but think the designer/builder is left-handed. My scores were as follows:

  • Pablo course = 22
  • Bozo course = 20
  • Gary course = 26
  • Bruce course = 21

The courses were the 456th-449th played and 757th-760th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

People often think all crazy golf courses have clown's mouths to putt through. Very few actually do

The team at Junkyard Golf are on the move in Manchester, with a new permanent venue opening on First Street in September. There's also a new Junkyard Golf course opening in Oxford and plans for more sites around the UK.

Junkyard Golf Club on the London Underground

Spotting another advert for London's Junkyard Golf Club on the London Underground.

My mate and minigolf rival Gareth Holmes has spotted another advert for the Junkyard Golf Club while travelling on the tube in London.

There are four Crazy Golf courses at Junkyard Golf Club in the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.

The brand also has two courses in Manchester Piccadilly - although the Manchester venue is moving to a new site in August.

Junkyard Golf is heading to Oxford too, with a new location opening at the redeveloped Westgate shopping centre.

Visit the Junkyard Golf Club website for more details on the venues, opening times and prices.

Manchester's Junkyard Crazy Golf course is on the move

New Junkyard Golf Club venue in Manchester.

Junkyard Golf Club in Manchester is on the move and heading to a new and improved permanent venue at First Street. The Junkyard Crazy Golf course has had two successful spells as a pop-up at the Great Northern Warehouse and its current location in Piccadilly.

Junkyard Golf Club's course is certainly crazy

The last rounds of Crazy Golf at the current spot in Piccadilly Place will be played on the 20th August, with play at the new course set to tee-off on the 24th August.

A loop-di-loop I actually did well on. Despite the fact it's made out of an old tyre!

There are currently two Junkyard Golf Club locations - Manchester and London - with a third site to open in Oxford later this year. The London venue has three courses at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.

The Junkyard Crazy Golf Club courses in Manchester's Piccadilly Place were the 718th and 719th courses visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour last November and in January this year they became the 421st and 422nd played.

Junkyard Crazy Golf in Oxford

New Junkyard Crazy Golf course opening in Oxford.

I've heard that the team at Junkyard Golf Club are opening a new course in Oxford later this year.

Junkyard Golf Club's brand of Crazy Golf isn't run of the mill

It's a smart move as Oxford has been crying out for a minigolf course for years. While there are three minigolf layouts in the city these are in parks on the outskirts, rather than in the city centre.

Growing up in nearby Abingdon I was sad to hear that the town's only Crazy Golf course was recently removed to make way for a new play area. At least people in the town can soon head over to Oxford for a game.

Junkyard Crazy Golf on the tube

Spotting an advert for London's Junkyard Crazy Golf on the London Underground.

Thanks to my mate and minigolf rival Gareth Holmes for sending me this snap of an advert for London's Junkyard Crazy Golf course he spotting on the tube earlier this week.

We haven't been to the four London Junkyard Crazy Golf courses at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane yet, but the Manchester courses are two of our most local minigolf layouts and were the 718th and 719th visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

It's always nice to see minigolf advertising. Last year we saw an advert for the Shanklin Seafront Crazy Golf course on an Island Line tube train.

Playing Junkyard Golf in Manchester

A revisit to play the Junkyard Crazy Golf course in Manchester.

The two 9-hole Junkyard Crazy Golf Club courses in Manchester's Piccadilly Place were the 718th and 719th courses visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour last November. They are now the 421st and 422nd played.

Hole 1 and 2 on the Pablo course

In my round on the Pablo Crazy Golf course I scored a 27 - the last hole, a Volcano, did me in with a five! It's got a very tough second putt up hill.  I shot a 29 on the Frieda course, with the third hole doing me in with a costly seven!

There's a blacklight section of the course. One of my favourite types of minigolf design

There are definitely some good hole-in-one opportunities on the course, with the loop-di-loop first hole and skate ramp fourth holes on Frieda my favourites.

The whole venue has a very crazy feel and the minigolf holes and obstacles at Junkyard Golf are certainly unique.

While it wasn't the easiest hole on the course I did enjoy seeing an Alan Partridge themed hole there!

Visit the Junkyard Golf website for more details on the Manchester and London courses. We've heard good things about the FOUR London courses the team at Junkyard Golf have created.

We've visited 721 courses in the UK and overseas. One of those courses was in the exact same spot as Junkyard Golf. Back in 2012 there was a Christmas-themed Crazy Golf course set-up for six weeks. That course was the 313th played. I also won the Chrizy Golf Masters tournament there during that visit!

Junkyard Golf in Manchester

A visit to the Junkyard Crazy Golf course in Piccadilly Place, Manchester.

While on a recent trip to Manchester I managed to pop along to the new Junkyard Golf courses in Piccadilly Place. They look marvellous.

What is more appealing than a WARNING TOXIC WASTE sign. A perfect addition to the ludicrously crazy minigolf course at Junkyard Golf

Check out the Junkyard Golf website for more details on the Manchester and London courses. We've heard good things about the FOUR London courses the team at Junkyard Golf have created too.

Emily and I are looking forward to having a game on the two layouts as part of our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour soon.

We've now visited 693 courses in the UK and 26 overseas. One of those courses was in the very same spot as Junkyard Golf. Back in 2012 there was a Christmas-themed Crazy Golf course set-up for six weeks. That course was the 313th played. I also won the Chrizy Golf Masters tournament there during that visit!
