Emily and I have competed in the tournament since 2007 - back when it was played out over two courses - and we'll be back for another crack at the world title again this year.

The Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf course in Hastings was the 39th we played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour and we've played countless rounds on the links course since 2007.

If you fancy having a crack at being the next World Crazy Golf Champion you can still sign-up to enter.

Simon Tompkins of Hastings Adventure Golf, said “We always look forward to this competition. There are players of all abilities, from top flight to complete novices, some crazy outfits and always a great spirit of fun over the whole weekend.”

Hastings Adventure Golf has been dubbed the ‘spiritual home of crazy golf’and the competition will see last year’s winner and three-time World Crazy Golf Champion, Chris Harding from Birmingham defending his title against a competitive field of players. You can follow the results live online and if you'd like to enter contact the BMGA.

There's a top prize of £1,000, with runner-up prizes of £750, £500, £200 and £100. For a shot at the title competitors must beat the windmill and water mill as well as negotiate the bends, twists and ramps on the traditional seaside course. Not to mention the British seaside weather in late October!

All entrants benefit from a free practice session on Friday 23rd October.

BMGA British Minigolf Championships 2015

Minigolf report from the BMGA British Championships in Hastings

On the 16th and 17th May Leagrave minigolfer Richard Gottfried competed in the BMGA British Minigolf Championships on the 18-hole Pirate Adventure Golf course on Hastings seafront.

Richard finished in tied 15th place in the 34-player field having scored rounds of 34, 30, 32, 31, 36, 32, 33, 33 and 33 for a total of 294(-30). In the General Class contest Richard finished in 8th place of 15 players.

Richard said “I’m pleased to have scored par or better in each of the nine-rounds and I made a lot of holes-in-one which was nice.”

In Friday’s Midlands Minigolf Club Doubles contest Richard and team-mate Ruth Burke were runners-up to John Moore and Brenda Smith, with the pair scoring a combined 66 to finish one-shot behind the winners.

For the second year in a row Richard was the winner of the British Championship Hole-in-One Challenge shootout.

Later this season Richard and Emily Gottfried will be competing in the Splash Point Open in Worthing and the World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings.

Seagulls at Hastings Adventure Golf

It didn't take long for the seagulls of Hastings to make a home on the roof of the new advertising trailer at Hastings Adventure Golf!

Seagulls in Hastings
Hastings Adventure Golf is the home of the major tournaments... and a lot of seagulls!

One of the perils of playing minigolf at the seaside are seagulls. If they're not pooing on you or the course, they're after your chips and in the case of some players even their balls!

Hastings Adventure Golf was hosting the BMGA British Minigolf Championships on the Pirate Golf course. Next month the minigolf complex plays host to the WMF World Adventure Golf Masters tournament, while in October the World Crazy Golf Championships take place on the Arnold Palmer course.

On the 28 February we were back in Hastings ahead of the BMGA British Club Championships - held on the Pirate Golf course - and so took a look at the Adventure Golf course and the classic Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf course.

As well as the Crazy Golf course Hastings is home to an 18-hole Adventure Golf course and an 18-hole Pirate Golf course.

We've visited the town many times since 2007 and spent a lot of time putting around on the courses.

Two of the courses we've played are no longer there. The Miniature Golf course on the seafront was removed and turned into the Pirate Golf course in 2011, while the Adventure Golf course at White Rock Gardens also closed in 2011 and was changed into an outdoor laser tag arena!

For more information, prices and opening times of the seafront miniature golf courses check out the Hastings Adventure Golf website.

Hastings Seafront Adventure Golf

Following the conclusion of the 2007 Virgin Money World Crazy Golf Championships, held on the Minigolf and Crazy Golf courses in Hastings, East Sussex, Emily and I had a round on the 18-hole Adventure Golf course at the Sea Front complex. The course became the 41st visited and played on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

In our Irregular Mini Golf Tour Match-up Emily defeated me 47-48.

We last played the course in September 2010 at the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open.
