We've been to the Isle of Wight a few times over the years and have also played the Mini Golf Garden at Puckpool Park and the Pirate Adventure Golf at Peter Pan's on Esplanade in Ryde.

Lost minigolf courses on the Isle of Wight

There used to be another adventure golf course in Shanklin too - Jungle Jim's - but that closed a few years ago.

Some of the courses that are on the Isle of Wight now have been built on top of older courses or have totally replaced grass Putting courses that were there before.

It's certainly interesting seeing the changes and developments on the island.

A look at the Rylstone Tea Gardens Crazy Golf course in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.

My friend and minigolf rival Matt Dodd sent me this photo of the Crazy Golf course at Rylstone Tea Gardens in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight during his minigolfing trip there last summer.

We've been to the course and seen it in two iterations. The first time was when the layout was on the original wooden course design in 2008. When we returned in 2016 the layout was using many of the original obstacles but in a concrete setting.

A look at the Rylstone Crazy Golf and Tea Gardens in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

Many thanks to our friend Philip Walsh for sending over some snaps of the Rylstone Crazy Golf course at the Tea Gardens in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

We first visited the course in 2008 and returned in 2016.

There have been some modifications and additions to the course since our last visit.

Philip told me this was the round killer hole - it certainly looks like it could be tough to play!

We're looking forward to heading back to the Isle of Wight in the future. We've only been there on day trips before, next time we'll have to do a longer trip and take in more of the isle.

While browsing through the many boxes at the Stockport Postcard Fair we spotted this nice old postcard showing the Rylstone Crazy Golf course and Tea Gardens at Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

The card is un-posted but has had the year 1999 written on the reverse. The photo on the card was taken a long time before then.

We visited the course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in 2008. It was incredibly well signposted then, and still was on our return in 2016.

In 2008 the course still looked very much like it does on the postcard. However due to decades of wear and tear the base of the 'tables' meant that a new concrete layout had to be created to house the original obstacles.
