Minigolf Report
Adventure Island Minigolf League – Week 8
Luton Minigolfer Richard Gottfried finished play in the Adventure Island Minigolf League at Star City in Birmingham with two wins on Monday 22nd September. Gottfried defeated John Whitehead 35 to 41 on the Hidden Cove Challenge Course and beat Matthew Harding 38 to 41 on the Lost Hut Trail Course.

Richard now faces a one-week wait to confirm his final ranking position. He is guaranteed a place in the top two and is currently sitting in first place with 30 points from his 10 wins. Only reigning World Crazy Golf Champion Chris Harding poses a threat to the number one spot having three games in hand which he will play next week. Chris must gain six points in his three final matches to overhaul Richard – a win and 2 draws would result in a playoff match over 36 holes.

Gottfried said “I’ve done all I can and played my best Minigolf. I just need to sit tight and let the other matches happen, Chris is the World Champion and is an awesome player, but there are a lot of other good players in the league so I’ll be hoping a bit of luck goes their way when they face him next week.”

Adventure Island Minigolf League – Richard Gottfried’s final win/loss record
Played 14*, Won 10, Lost 4, Drawn 0, Points 30, Rank – 1st
(Overall results Weeks 1-8, Played 16, Won 12, Lost 4, Drawn 0, Points 36)
* Due to two players dropping out of the league the results of matches against them do not count in the final rankings (this is adjusted for all remaining players).

In other results from Star City Richard teamed up with new Minigolf Doubles partner Andy Gonsalves to defeat Matt Smith & Fraser Cameron in a 36-hole Doubles Matchplay match, with Gottfried sinking an Ace at the 33rd hole to seal the victory 5 &3.

In addition to the final table being decided next Monday Richard will also be competing in a Cup Tournament at Star City.
