Stonehenge Big Mini Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk

My brother and charter member of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour Christopher visited Hemsby in Norfolk yesterday and swung by the Stonehenge Big Mini Golf course.

Stonehenge Big Mini Golf was the 174th course played on our travels in June 2010. We first visited in May 2009.

Our combined total of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour now stands at 983 courses visited.

Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk

My brother and charter member of the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour Christopher was in the seaside town of Hemsby in Norfolk yesterday and sent me this snap from the Lost World Adventure Golf course.

The course has a new app

Lost World Adventure Golf was the 88th course played on our travels back in May 2009.

It's one of my all-time favourite courses.

Castaway Island Mini Golf replaced the 9-hole and 18-hole Arnold Palmer Putting courses on the promenade. We visited in July 2016 and the course became the 693rd on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The Crazy World of Minigolf Tour

Christopher and his family have visited 37 courses on their branch of the tour, 26 of those have been unique to them. Emily and I have visited 956 courses on the main tour.

Christopher has been to six courses in 2020. He revisited the indoor adventure golf course at The Windmill Theatre in Great Yarmouth too.

We've been to a total of 46 courses in 2020, with 15 of those being new courses visited. We've swung by eight new courses in the time of coronavirus.

We've got 40 of the original 600 we set out to visit left and a lot of new courses to play at too!

Together we've been to 982 courses since the 30th September 2006.

Louis Tussauds House of Wax in Great Yarmouth

A look back at Louis Tussauds House of Wax in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

In all of my travels around the UK one of my biggest regrets is that I never visited Louis Tussauds House of Wax in Great Yarmouth.

The closest I ever got to going inside

It was the World's Worst Wax Museum!

We've been to the Norfolk seaside resort a number of times over the years but either ran out of time to go in, or found it to be closed or out-of-season.

Sadly Louis Tussauds House of Wax permanently closed in 2012.

Did you ever visit? I'd love to know if it really was as bad as people say.

We replayed the Crazy Golf course at The Windmill Theatre in Great Yarmouth back in 2011.

One of the holes added since our first play of the course in 2007 was the Stars of the Windmill hole, which features a Wall of Fame showing all the stars that at one time or another performed at the Windmill Theatre.

The number of indoor minigolf courses has boomed in the last decade. When we first visited The Windmill Theatre course in 2007 there was one other indoor minigolf course in the UK. That one is also still there and can be found at Manning's Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk

New app at Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk

The Lost World Adventure Golf course in Hemsby has a new app.

The team at the Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk have introduced a new mobile scoring and loyalty app for the 9-hole course. It's available to download for free on Android and iPhone.

It looks very nice indeed and gives maps for each of the holes, details of the rules, a selfie function and more.

The loyalty points system is a nice touch too and is a continuation of the paper-based loyalty cards available at the course.

When you sign up to the app you automatically receive 300 points onto your card.

The Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby was the 88th course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in May 2009. It's still one of our favourites and we have fond memories of competing in tournaments there.

We can't wait to get back for another round there in the future. I've downloaded the app ready to play. I'll be digging out our previous rounds to load into the History element of the app which allows you to view all your past games.

Each of the holes has a map in the top left corner. When you click on it a larger view will open with a tip on the best way to play it

Adventure Island Crazy Golf in Mundesley, Norfolk

A look at the Adventure Island Golf course in Mundesley. July 2016.

The 12-hole layout became the 406th played and 692nd visited overall on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

We've now been to 949 courses since 2006.

Boom: Battle Bar at the Castle Quarter in Norwich

The new indoor games venue is opening at the Castle Quarter shopping and entertainment centre in Norwich this month.

Norwich's new indoor entertainment venue is opening its doors on the 23rd July. Boom: Battle Bar is home to a minigolf course, boules piste, axe throwing arena, electric darts and shuffleboard.

A scorecard from Blackbeard's Adventure Golf in Hunstanton

A look at a minigolf scorecard from Blackbeard's Adventure Golf in Hunstanton, Norfolk.

Many thanks to my friend and minigolf rival Steve Lovell for sending me this scorecard from Blackbeard's Adventure Golf in Hunstanton, Norfolk.

He played a few rounds there pre-pandemic.

When we visited Blackbeard's Adventure Golf in May 2011 the two 9-hole courses were called The Aztec Trail & Blackbeard's Adventure. On the recent scorecard they are named Pirates Course and Aztec Course.

I always thought it was a curious mixture of two adventure golf themes as you tend to find one or other, rather than both together.

The Aztec course was the 246th played and the Pirate course was number 247 on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

Social distancing measures in place at Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby.

Our friends over at Lost World Adventure Golf in Hemsby, Norfolk have put cleaning and social distancing measures in place and the course is now open to players.

The 9-hole adventure golf course is one of my favourites. The layout has some excellent theming and tricky obstacles. I also love the fact they sell minigolf merchandise and I've added key-rings, mugs and trophies to my collection and the Crazy Golf Museum's vault on my visits.

We've also competed in tournaments at the Lost World course. Emily's team was third in the 2010 Lost World Adventure Golf Pro-Am, while my pairing were runners-up in 2011.

The 18-hole Crazy Golf course was the 432nd played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. The layout was the 734th visited overall and the 707th we'd been to in the UK.
