Adventure Golf at the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge
Playing the new Adventure Golf course at Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge, Solihull.
On Saturday 9th September we visited the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge to play the new 18-hole Adventure Golf course.
On the 18th |
It's a brilliant Harris Miniature Golf layout and it looks superb. Even though the weather had been dreadful the course still played really nicely. I shot a round of 41 (the course par is 50). Not bad considering the weather conditions. There are definitely some great hole-in-one opportunities on the course, as well as some potential pitfalls. It's a well designed course and you really need to be on top of your game for some of the second putts as the greens are fairly large for minigolf.
What a lovely setting for a game of miniature golf |
The course became the 770th visited and 457th played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
On the practice putting green before my round |
The Rules |
We've visited the Four Ashes Golf Centre a lot over the years to play tournaments on the centre's 12-hole Mini Golf course. It was originally course number 72 visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
The Four Ashes Golf Centre was the location of our 72nd and 770th courses visits |
Visit the Four Ashes Golf Centre website for more information, opening times and prices.

Christmas-on-Sea
With the festive season fast approaching Southend-on-Sea has got it's Christmas lights up already. Although they're not yet lit. The 'Christmas-on-Sea' lights on the Southend Central bridge were quite eye catching.
It was great to see Southend nice and busy during our all-too-brief visit over the weekend. It was the first time we've been to the seaside town and NOT had time to play any minigolf. The courses we're proving a hit with the holidaymakers, locals and day-trippers.

The A-Team - tile company in Belfast and Lisburn
Spotting the bootleg A-Team van in Southend on Sea reminded me of this superb knock-off we spotted in Belfast way back in 2010. There's so much to like about the vehicle and its signage!

The 'A-Team's' van in Southend
We were down in Southend-on-Sea at the weekend and while having a wander along Marine Parade we spotted a bootleg A-Team van at one of the amusement arcades.
It's not the first bootleg A-Team van we've seen on our travels either!

Chip mascot in Southend
The 'Chip shop mascot man who is eating himself' at Southend's Adventure Island Theme Park has had a bit of a paint job since we saw him last year.
The cannibal chip man was blue when we saw him - and a number of hot dog mascots - last July.

Surfside Crazy Golf at Pensarn Beach in Abergele
Playing the Crazy Golf course at the Surfside Amusements in Abergele.
The second Crazy Golf course we played on our holiday in North Wales was at the Surfside Amusements in Abergele.
The course has 13-holes |
The course is a 13-hole layout, with 9-holes of Crazy Golf in a sea world theme, while holes 10-13 are completely different. It's an odd and intriguing layout and was good fun to play.
One of the aquatic-themed obstacles on the front-9 |
On Friday 22nd September the Surfside Crazy Golf course at Pensarn Beach in Abergele became the 463rd played and 782nd visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.
In our match-up on the 13-hole course I won with a score of 17 to Emily's 20.
Numero one in Abergele |
We had a great time playing the course. It's a unique layout and it was nice to play a mixture of holes and obstacles - it was like playing two courses in one, especially when you consider how big the 10th hole was!
Emily on the 10th hole |
Playing the 10th |
As a bit of a train nerd it was fun hearing and seeing the variety of trains thundering passed the course too.
The Sea World Crazy Golf course at the Surfside Amusements is well worth a play. On our visit it was just £2 a round. Marvellous fun.
Check out the Surfside Amusements on Facebook for more information, opening times and prices.

Mini Golf at the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge
A look at the Mini Golf course at Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge, Solihull.
On Saturday 9th September we visited the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge to play the new 18-hole Adventure Golf course. While there we also had to have a look at the 12-hole Mini Golf course - we've played it so many times over the years. It was the 72nd course visited on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in 2008.
Visit the Four Ashes Golf Centre website for more information, opening times and prices.

Hole 1 |
A nice hole to start your round - but it can be a tough second putt if you don't get your reboud right |
Hole 2 |
The optical illusion can trick you into playing too hard a shot. This will leave you with a tough second putt |
Hole 3 |
A nice ace opportunity |
Hole 4 |
A nice tester |
Hole 5 |
Another good chance of a hole in one |
Hole 6 |
A good ace hole too |
Hole 7 |
A potential round killer! |
Hole 8 |
You need to play a perfectly paced shot on this hole. The reward is a lovely hole in one |
Hole 9 |
You do not want to end up in the ditch |
Hole 10 |
I don't think I've ever scored a hole in one on this hole |
Hole 11 |
Another potential round ruiner! |
Hole 12 |
A nice way to end your round |
