Old Miniature golf postcards from Brighton

A look at four old miniature golf postcards from Brighton.

Emily and I have found some brilliant old postcards at fairs, charity shops, car boot sales, antique shops and online over the years. Some are quite new and date from the 2000's, while others are from the early 1900's. We also really enjoy finding brand new postcards on sale at minigolf courses we visit.

Three of the same location.

One of the first minigolf course postcards I bought is also the earliest dated minigolf postcard I have of Brighton. The colourised card shows the 'Miniature Golf Links, Brighton' and was posted from Brighton to West Harrow on the 29th August 1927.

The next dated card I have shows the 'New Miniature Golf Course and Carpet Gardens, Brighton' - the same course as above - and was posted from Wolverton in Buckinghamshire to Rochester, Kent on the 27th May 1928.

The Tuck's card No. 2162 I have shows the same area and is captioned 'Lower Parade & Miniature Golf course, Brighton'. It was posted from Brighton to Fulham on the 10th October 1928. However, looking at the course, surrounding area and the clothing people are wearing I would suggest the course was the first to be on the site and was there pre-1927.

The next dated card was posted from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire to Lancing, Sussex on the 15th April 1945. This card is captioned 'Aquarium & Palace Pier showing Miniature Golf Links, Brighton'.

Playing minigolf in Brighton

We've played minigolf in Brighton a number of times over the years but haven't been to the south coast seaside resort for quite some time. We'll need to revisit on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour to see what's new there.

Crazy Golf in Brighton
The 12th course visited on our travels was on the seafront in Brighton. This was back in July 2007

One of the first courses played on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was the Crazy Golf on the seafront near the Palace Pier back in 2007.

Many thanks to my friend and minigolf rival Stephen Skinner of the Welsh Minigolf Club for sending over these superb snaps from he and his wife Laura's visit to the Globalls Crazy Golf course in Brighton.

It's a course Emily and I have wanted to play on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour for a while. It opened up after our last visit to the seaside town. We're hoping to get back down there again next year.

Globalls is home to two 12-hole indoor glow-in-the-dark minigolf courses. One has a dinosaur theme while the other has a jungle theme.

From Brighton to Burnley on our Crazy World of Mingolf Tour

In March 2007 we visited the 12th course on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. It was on the seafront in Brighton. On Saturday we visited our 912th course. It was a Putting Green in Burnley.

Summer Greens at Churchill Square in Brighton

There's a Crazy Golf course on the rooftop car park at Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton.

The pop-up miniature golf course is part of a summer of fun and players can pick up a putter for a FREE round on Level 7 of the Churchill Square car park in Brighton.

Sounds great to me.

I hope some of my friends down in Brighton get along for a game - and nab me a scorecard and some snaps.

The course is open now and is on the roof until the 15th July. Check out the Churchill Square website for more information and opening times.

This is obviously not the rooftop Crazy Golf course. But I wonder if you can see this course and the pier from Churchill Square's rooftop course?

Halloween at Globalls Crazy Golf in Brighton

The team at Globalls Crazy Golf in Brighton are putting together the finishing touches to their Halloween-themed minigolf layout.

The 12-hole glow-in-the-dark Crazy Golf course is normally full of dinosaurs, but between Friday the 13th and Halloween itself the indoor Crazy Golf course will be transformed into an incredibly popular creepshow!

There'll be Dracula, Frankenstein, Skeletons, Zombies and more at the Globalls Halloween event

Emily and I are really looking forward to visiting Jurassic Globalls - and the new 'Tropicana' course they are opening - on our next trip to Brighton. It's been a while since we were in the seaside resort.

Indoor glow in the dark minigolf in Brighton

Finding out about Jurassic Globalls indoor glow in the dark minigolf in Brighton.

It's always brilliant to see new minigolf courses opening and even better to hear they are doing well. One such new minigolf course is Jurassic Globalls, an indoor glow in the dark course in Brighton. We haven't been to Brighton for a few years, but really ought to so we can play the new course and see what's changed down there. In the meantime the team at Globalls were kind enough to send me the first scorecard they ever printed for my collection of minigolf ephemera and merchandise in the Crazy Golf Museum. It looks great.

I've been told the course record for the 12-hole course currently stands at 19 shots, with the average score coming in at the 50 shots mark!

You can find Jurassic Globalls at Unit 8, Ground Floor, Mermaid Walk, The Waterfront, Brighton Marina BN2 5WA. Visit the Jurassic Globalls website for more information, opening times and prices.

Emily and I are looking forward to having a crack at the course on our next trip to Brighton on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour. We've played minigolf at Brighton Marina before - on an Adventure Golf course which had one of the smallest holes we've ever seen!

Do give Jurassic Globalls a follow on social media too as I've seen they run quite a few competitions to win free rounds and other fun stuff.

My friend, and fan of bizarre photos, Paul 'Flip Flops' O'Connor was recently in Brighton and sent me through some snaps of the new Adventure Golf course being built on the seafront.

The new minigolf course is from the team behind the Bristol and Liverpool 'Jungle Rumble' Adventure Golf courses.

The new course will replace the Peter Pan's Adventure Golf course on Madeira Drive.

Over the year's we've been to Brighton a few times and played, or at least visited, the Miniature Golf courses in the town when we've been there.

Peter Pan's Adventure Golf course was the 13th course visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour back in March 2007. That same year I returned to the course for the Brighton Open minigolf tournament where I finished in 18th place. It was also the venue of my brother Christopher's one and only appearance (to date) on the BMGA Tour - in the 2008 Brighton Open.

We've also visited and played the other two Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf courses, with both the Bristol and Liverpool courses hosting British Minigolf Association tournaments in recent years.

We're looking forward to giving the new Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf layout in Brighton a play in the future.

Brighton & Hove Minigolf Courses Not Played This Time Around

With time running out on our mini-roadtrip and with us wanting to reach Worthing on Sunday 15th May, we were unable to stop and play the newly extended to 18-holes Madeira Drive Adventure Golf course, or the concrete Crazy Golf by the Pier in Brighton.

Driving onwards we also spotted a Crazy Golf course at the King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove, but didn't get to play it. We'll head back to have a game on it soon...
