Following our visit to the Novelty Golf course in Billericay's Lake Meadows Park in Essex on Saturday 10th July 2010, we headed to Wickford Memorial Park, Wickford, Essex to seek out another 'Novelty Golf' course.
Unfortunately this course was an 18-hole derelict.
Speaking to some locals at the park, we found out that the 18-hole course had been abandoned some time ago, and it is no longer used. A real shame, as it was easily accessible and the park was a fair size too.

I loved that course, spent most of my childhood on it, how and why have they let it come to this? I was going to take my kids there but oh well. Gutted. Back in the 80's it was buzzin, 50p deposit and 20p cost, for a ball, putter and score card. As soon as i win the lotto i will come and save you crazy golf course!
I spent most of my childhood on that course, im well gutted to see whats become of it. In the 80's it was 20p a go with a deposit of 50p for your putter, ball and score card. Happy days, also there was the Play leadership center at the park entrance, i can promise you that the play leadership center kept me and many of my friends out of trouble, the staff and who ever owned that place need big praise...
Hello John,
Thank you for your comments. Yes, it's always a shame to find a Crazy Golf course has closed down, or left to become derelict :-(
We visited last year, so perhaps it's been re-opened since...
All the best,
Richard
