Adventure Golf at Telford Town Park

A visit to the Adventure Golf course at Telford Town Park.

On a recent visit to Telford I noticed that the Town Park had a 12-hole Adventure Golf course.

The layout, made by City Golf, has a Telford-theme to it and features local landmarks.

The Adventure Golf course at Telford Town Park became the 716th visited on the Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

On our previous visit to Telford we visited Wonderland. The Crazy Golf course there was the 300th played and 500th visited on our tour.

Telford Town Park was a nice spot for a wander. I'll definitely explore it more on a future visit. One of the walks in the area features an old Railway Platform, something the train nerd in me would like to see.

Looking on the Telford Town Park map I also noticed that there was an area to play Boules. I tried looking for the terrain and the petanque piste but I couldn't see it at all.

Until I looked at the ground UNDERNEATH the outdoor table football and table tennis court!

Playing Minigolf in the towns of Tywyn and Towyn in Wales

Visits to the Welsh towns of Tywyn and Towyn on our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

A recent BBC news report told how a sat-nav mistake saw a driver take a school bus 80 miles in the wrong direction ending up in Towyn rather than Tywyn!

On our roadtrip of Wales in 2009 we managed to visit 43 Miniature Golf courses and play 28 of them. We also managed to play Crazy Golf in both Tywyn and Towyn.

The 138th course was a 15-hole Crazy Golf course at Tywyn Leisure Park on Marine Parade in Tywyn. The Leisure Park was an excellent set-up and there was also Bowls, Tennis, Skittles and a Putting Course to play. We only had time on our visit to play the Crazy Golf and the Skittles. It’s well worth a visit.

On the road to Rhyl we found what would be the 144th course played. The 9-hole Crazy Golf course at Knightly's Amusements and Fun Park on Sandbank Road was a surprise as we hadn’t planned to visit the town of Towyn. We had spotted a sign advertising Knightly’s and decided to have a look. We were glad we did as it was a bustling street full of seaside fun!

Both Tywyn and Towyn are well worth a visit, whether you find yourself in the wrong place or not I'm sure you'll find plenty to do.

Luton is still a Town

Luton fails in bid to become a City.

Luton has failed in its bid to become a City as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. A total of 25 towns in the UK put in a City Status Bid, with the winners announced today.

Chelmsford, Essex; Perth, Scotland and St Asaph, Wales were the three towns honoured with new City Status.

The Luton Town Coat of Arms – granted in 1876. The crest shows a wheatsheaf (representing agriculture and straw supplied to the town’s hat trade), a bee (the traditional emblem of industry), a beehive (representing the town’s famous straw-plaiting industry), a rose (from the arms of the Napier family from Luton Hoo) and a thistle (a symbol for Scotland and on the Luton Coat of Arms either because of the Napier’s link to Scotland via the straw-plaiting industry, or the Marquess of Bute who was a former owner of Luton Hoo).
