Watching BBC’s South today news programme earlier I saw that Oxford held a National Town Crier’s competition today as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations!

Oxford Castle’s very first Town Criers Contest – The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Competition – saw Town Criers from all over the country compete in the 'National Town Criers Competition' which was organised by Anthony Church the Official Town Crier to the City of Oxford.

According to the news report the winner of the contest was the Town Crier of Lichfield.

Over on the excellent Abingdon Blog last month I noticed that my old home town of Abingdon-on-Thames has a few different Town Criers and its own Guild of Town Criers!

Further details about the rooftop Crazy Golf course and Tea Room at Selfridges is now up online at the Selfridges website at:

The food and London-themed Minigolf course sounds very crazy indeed! I'm looking forward to visiting and playing it as part of our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour.

The team at Putter Fingers are also getting excited about playing the course at Selfridges, check out their latest blog post at "Play Crazy Golf at Selfridges this Summer!"

While at the Engineers Arms in Henlow yesterday I picked up a flyer in their 'CAMRA Corner' with details of the Burton Bridge Inn in Burton-upon-Trent. The Burton Bridge Inn is also home to a Skittles Alley. The one they have is a floor-based one, rather than the raised table type one in the Engineers Arms.

I've heard from my Guildford-area-based sporting rival Oliver 'The Machine' Florence that the Bar Billiards table at the Royal Oak Pub in Guildford is no more!

Sad news indeed as it was a good table and nice pub to play the game in.

Via a retweet made by the team at The World is Gluten Free on Twitter from a post by Gluten Free Seattle I have found out about two more Gluten Free Beers!

They are:
- Omission Beer
- New Planet Beer
